Another story says the hopelessly useless United Nations has “concerns” about Iran enriching Uranium. Nooooooo? Really?! They say the Iranians are obstructing their observations. Imagine that.
What happened to all of Obama’s talk to sit down with President My-in-a-Mood I’m-a-nutta-job of Iran “without any preconditions” and work all this out? Can’t we all just get along? What happened to the tough consequences Obama promised for Iran misbehaving? Nothing? Hello? What about the promise Secretary of State Hillary RahmRod Clinton made to deliver on those tough consequences? The media never even bothered to ask why the consequences never happened. There was a pointless and powerless U.N. resolution. Yawn. The Iranian leaders laughed it off and Obama did nothing.

President Obama said last night…
“We have spent a trillion dollars at war, often financed by borrowing from overseas. This, in turn, has short-changed investments in our own people, and contributed to record deficits.”
But, there are numerous problems with what he said.
First, yes we have spent a trillion dollars but not at “war” (singular as in just the Iraq war which was just more than $700-billion), rather on “wars” (plural as in Iraq AND Afghanistan). It’s a clever little trick to try to convince you we spent more on the Iraq war than we did on the economy, and that is a falsehood. This is a deliberately misleading comment.
Second, how can he claim the warS have short-changed investments in our own people? He spent $888-billion in two years on the economy. The $700+-billion on the Iraq war was spread out over 9+ years. It is not correct to state that somehow we short-changed domestic spending. If we had not gone to war, it is not like we would have then allocated this phantom money to domestic causes.
He is careful to say “Contributed” to record deficits. In the past he has claimed the Medicaid spending is the “Single largest” factor in our increasing deficit. This was simply not true. The two largest factors contributing to the deficit were the war spending and the stimulus package he passed.
Finally, economists have put forth the idea that war spending improves, not worsens, a nation’s economy. His claim that it hurts domestic spending is weak at best.

Candidate Obama Tries to Delay Troop Withdrawal from Iraq! – 09/16/2008New York POST: Campaigning…for a speedy withdrawal of US troops,…Obama tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence. Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari says Obama demanded a delay in July, 2008. “He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington.” Obama insisted Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops – and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its “state of weakness and political confusion.” Though Obama claims the US presence is “illegal,” he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate. His advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the “weakened Bush administration,” Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate. Obama has made many contradictory statements with regard to Iraq. His latest position is that US combat troops should be out by 2010. Yet his effort to delay an agreement would make that withdrawal deadline impossible to meet.

Obama Broken Promise on Iraq War #1 – Jan. 21, 2009 -On his first full day in office, Obama breaks a promise he made in July, 2008. Fox News reports Obama said he would hold a full cabinet meeting his first day to set a new course to get out of Iraq. He did not hold the meeting & instead plans to get troops out of Iraq “in good time” while adding to forces in Afghanistan!
Obama’s Troop Surge Hypocrisy 2/18/9-Candidate Barack Obama was very vocal about how awful troop surges were. He stood firm in demanding the Bush surge was a mistake and only admitted to Katie Couric that surges actually worked after a good deal of badgering by her. On 7/22/2008 he told Couric, “There is no doubt our troops helped reduce violence (In Iraq, However) Those trrops could have gone to Afghanistan.” Not quite a full admission the surge worked, but certainly a partial one! Now, that he isn’t playing politics on TV anymore and actually has the job (wonder if he realizes that yet?), he has suddenly changed his tune! The Obama Troop Surge in Afghanistan suddenly is a good idea! The MSM aren’t even talking about this. UPDATE 2/20/9: Fox News followed our lead and did start talking about it!
The next one also negates his claim today that he “kept” his promise!
Obama Broken Promise on Iraq War # 2 2/25/9- Team Obama says it will remove troops from the battlefields in Iraq by August of 2010, 3 months later than his promised 16-month withdrawal of all troops. That broken promise could cost 100 lives. The new Obama word is that we won’t leave completely until 2011 sometime. That’s two to three years later than his promised “get out now” by the end of 2008 campaign talk. “The days of our open-ended commitment must come to a close,” he told the Senate, according to a Jan. 31, 2007, Washington Post article. Well, we he said he would get the troops out, he only meant he’d take troops actively involved in combat in certain areas on Tuesday afternoons out. We have to leave a “residual” force, we are told now. That force could be 50,000 troops strong and CodePink, MoveOn.org and top Dems are royally pissed off about this one! The Pink-PanTers actually believed him when he said he would get the troops out of Iraq and end the war. UPDATE 6/5/9: U.S. Socialist News and Liberal World Report: “He also plans to leave tens of thousands of troops behind to train Iraqis, protect U.S. interests, and root out al Qaeda insurgents. Many antiwar Democrats backed Obama in key primaries and caucuses last year because they believed he would end the war as soon as possible. Some of them are disappointed; others are angry.”UPDATE 9/5/9: A citizen writing in to the Journal News of New York’s Lower Hudson Valley asks, “How many more kids will President Obama sacrifice before he keeps his promise to end the occupation of Iraq and bring our youth home, not just send them to Afghanistan to die? What will it take for him to see the lessons we learned in Vietnam and those that Russia showed us in Afghanistan? The president is great in one thing: convincing the media to avoid reporting the deaths, continual deaths that is, and not preventing the Democrats from self-destruction (boy, are they in for a surprise in November). I used to vacation every year on Martha’s Vineyard with our nine children; I wonder how many warriors died during Obama’s time there? I voted for him and now I’m ashamed because of the wars, and his other broken promises of transparency, the lobbyists etc.” – R.J. Obama’s War Savings Lie -3/2/9He says he’ll save $1.5-Trillion in 10 years by cutting back the war in Iraq (and building up the war in Afghanistan??). For that to be true, the plan would have to have been to spend $150-billion a year through 2019…even though prior to Obama we agreed to get out of Iraq by 2011. It’s liberal ‘new math.’ UPDATE 5/7/9: The numbers still don’t add up. Fox reports: “And just as Congress is beginning work on a new war bill to fund military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan into the fall, Obama is sending up a $130 billion request to fund them next year. That figure may not be adequate considering the increase in the tempo of operations in Afghanistan.”
Obama Possibly Stages Warm Military Welcome – 4/9/9Some sites suggest the super warm welcome Obama received by troops during a surprise visit to Iraq was staged. The MacRanger Radio show: “According to a sergeant in Iraq : We were pre-screened, asked by officials “Who voted for Obama?”, and then those who raised their hands were shuffled to the front of the receiving line. They even handed out digital cameras and asked them to hold them up.”

Obama’s Amazing Troop Funding Flip-Flop! – 4/9/9Fox News: “Obama asked Congress for $83.4 billion for U.S. military and diplomatic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, pressing for special troop funding that he opposed two years ago when he was senator and George W. Bush was president…Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, acknowledged Obama has been critical of Bush’s use of similar special legislation to pay for the wars. He said it was needed this time because the money will be required by summer, before Congress is likely to complete its normal appropriations process. “This will be the last supplemental for Iraq and Afghanistan. The process by which this has been funded over the course of the past many years, the president has discussed and will change,” Gibbs said.” Just not yet. Just like he’ll stop pork spending…just not yet. The man is a fraud. Now that he’s not just playing president on TV, the job suddenly looks different. No doubt the anti-war left will be in the streets tomorrow protesting…then again…
Obama Broken Promise on Iraq War # 3 – 4/9/9Team Obama promised to get our troops out of Iraq. Now, the Times of London reports: Al Qaeda actions in 2 Iraq cities could keep combat troops engaged beyond the June 30th, 2009 deadline for their withdrawal. In fact, troop numbers in Mosul and Baqubah could rise rather than fall if necessary, General Ray Odierno told The Times in his first British interview since taking over from General David Petraeus. “Any delay would be a potential setback for President Obama, who has pledged to withdraw all combat forces from Iraq by August 2010 as he switches his focus to Afghanistan.” Strange. I remember the campaign promises about getting out of Iraq, but I don’t remember the campaign talk about stepping up the war in Afghanistan. Must just be my memory.
Obama’s Gitmo – The latest (and biggest?) Obama flip-flop – 4/21/9 William McGurn at the Wall Street Journal notes the contrast between Obama the candidate who said there should be a “rejection of the Bush administration’s attempt to create a legal black hole at Guantanamo” and Obama the President who now has his own “legal black hole” at Bagram Air Force Base in Iraq. On the senate floor in 2006 Obama said “I do not want to hear that this is a new world and we face a new kind of enemy.” Mr. McGurn quotes a Glenn Greenwald, a former constitutional law litigator, who said “These actions — these contradictions between what he said and what he is doing, the embrace of the very powers that caused so much anger towards Bush/Cheney — are so blatant, so transparent, so extreme, that the only way to avoid noticing them is to purposely shut your eyes as tightly as possible and resolve that you don’t want to see it, or that you’re so convinced of his intrinsic Goodness that you’ll just believe that even when it seems like he’s doing bad things, he must really be doing them for the Good.”
Obama Terror Talk # 3 – Obama’s Biggest Hypocrisy Yet: Says Guantanamo Helped Terrorist Recruiting!- 5/21/9 – “Guantanamo became a symbol that helped Al Qaida,” said President obama. “A symbol that helped Al Qaida recruit terrorists to its cause.” Interesting. Okay, if that’s true, then “Obama’s Gitmo“…the terrorist prison at Bagram Air Force Base in Iraq where he said he might abandon habeus corpus and hold people indefinetly…must also be a symbol to recruit terrorists. See the Obama Gitmo scandal dated 4/21/9 If we wanted to make up a “fact” as President Obama did in the previous scandal, we could say “Indeed the existence of President Obama’s Gitmo, the terrorist prison at Bagram Air Force Base in Iraq, is likely creating more terrorists around the world than it could ever detain!” Obama wants to show the nation how cool he is for shutting down Gitmo while he hopes no one notices that he has Gitmo II at Bagram in Iraq!!! So, Bagram must also be (as Obama described Gitmo) “it is a rallying cry for our enemies.”…Wait, I forgot (silly me) the media only tell the public it is “bad” when a republican does it. So with our nation’s first socialist President in charge, it must be okay now. My apologies. UPDATE 5/22/9 – Fox Reports democrat-socialist Alcee Hastings is proposing Guantanamo Bay Lite, or Gitmo version 2.0! UPDATE 5/24/9 Four days after we brought it up here, republican US Senator Jon Kyl says, “I mean, it’s palpably false to suggest that the existence of Gitmo created terrorism, and yet the president gets away with that.” He doesn’t get away with it at ConservativeAmerican.org because we are Leading the way Right. Kyl told Fox News I don’t think you saw guys sitting around in some coffee shop in Saudi Arabia, saying, ‘You know, those Americans have this prison called Gitmo, I think I’ll become a terrorist.’”
Obama’s Broken Promise on Iraq War # 4 – “Open Ended Commitment Must Come to a Close”- 5/26/9 Fox News: “Gen. George Casey, the Army chief of staff, said the Pentagon is prepared to leave fighting forces in Iraq for as long as a decade despite an agreement between the United States and Iraq that would bring all American troops home by 2012…As recently as February, Defense Secretary Robert Gates (said) “Under the Status of Forces Agreement with the Iraqi government, I intend to remove all U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of 2011.” – That’s odd considering Barack Obama said, “The days of our open-ended commitment must come to a close.” That’s what he told the Senate, according to a Jan. 31, 2007, Washington Post article. (See Scandal #95) So when will Obama get the troops out? He promised he would bring them home “now,” then May of 2010, then August of 2010, then “not completely” until 2011 sometime, and now maybe in a decade or so. Wonder if all the “get-out-now” crowd still adores President Obama?
Hug-an-Islamist Tour # 7: Obama Admits Bush was Right! – 6/4/9 – Despite years of being vocally against the Iraq war, Obama today admitted overseas that Iraq is better off because of it: “I believe that the Iraqi people are ultimately better off without the tyranny of Saddam Hussein.” That comment won’t please his anti-war pals.
Obama Broken Promise on Iraq War # 5 – – 6/4/9 – After promising America that he will end war and bring our troops home, Obama said in Egypt he may not be able to do that: “We would gladly bring every single one of our troops home if we could be confident that there were not violent extremists in Afghanistan and Pakistan determined to kill as many Americans as they possibly can. But that is not yet the case. That’s why we’re partnering with a coalition of forty-six countries. And despite the costs involved, America’s commitment will not weaken.” He’s partnering with 46 nations? I thought he said Bush (who had more partners) was doing this all alone without support from the world? He won’t weaken our commitment in Afghanistan? So much for bringing troops home.
Obama Broken Promise on Iraq War # 6 – Emergency Spending!- 6/16/9 – From the SayAnythingBlog: “Remember when Obama promised to end the Bush administration’s “budget tricks” by including war funding into the regular budgeting process instead of getting that money through emergency appropriations? Well surprise, surprise Obama and the Democrats are pushing through a war funding bill…through the emergency appropriations process. Just another “say one thing and do another” moment for Obama.” It’s the Obama Pattern! Will the state-run media call him on this one? The House passed the measure today loaded with billions in non-war items! AP notes: “Democratic leaders pushing the bill on behalf of the Obama administration had to overcome an unusual alliance. Anti-war Democrats opposed continued war spending and Republicans condemned $5 billion in the measure to secure a $108 billion U.S. line of credit to the International Monetary Fund for loans to poor countries.”

ObamaCare Press Conference Lie # 3 7/22/9Obama says the “biggest driving force behind the federal deficit is the skyrocketing costs of Medicare and Medicaid.” Not True. Fox News reported on July 13th the real causes for Obama’s huge deficit: “the huge deficit is caused by, “the huge sum the government has spent to combat the recession and financial crisis, combined with a sharp decline in tax revenues. Paying for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan also is a major factor.”
Obama Troop Surge Hypocrisy # 2 12/1/9 President Obama was one of the toughest critics of the George W. Bush Troop Surge in Iraq. He also was one of the last stubborn holdouts to admit it worked. He only sort of, maybe admitted it in an interview with Katie Couric after she prodded him numerous times. Now he has his second Afghan War troop surge. In February, Obama’s first troop surge wound up sending about 20,000 troops to Afghanistan. Now, Obama is again using the Bush troop surge strategy to send another 30,000 to Afghanistan. Hypocrisy on parade!
Obama’s Broken Promise on the Iraq War # 7 12/28/9 The lovely “Right Wing Sparkle” reminds us that today’s reality in Iraq “is a far cry from his rhetoric during the campaign where he (Obama) said, “I will bring this war to an end in 2009. So don’t be confused.” We’re still there. Not only did he not end this war, he is expanding the Afghan War.
2010 State of Obama # 20 – Lied About Troops Coming Home 1/27/2010 – The President said “All of our troops are coming home.” Oops. That’s a lie (where was Joe Wilson?). He forgot about the 50,000 troops he intends to leave behind in Iraq for an open-ended commitment.
Biden Gives The Obama-Biden Administration Credit for The Iraq War Going Well!!! Obama Mission Accomplished 2/11/10 From the WizBang blog: “I think Old Saint Joe Biden has a bit of snow on the brain. In an interview on Larry King Alive this past Wednesday, the Vice President of these here States United was asked of his current assessment of Iraq. ‘I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You’re going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You’re going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.’ …Uh, what was that again? “I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration.” Good grief. Biden Repeats Outrageous Iraq Claim – Success is Due to Obama! 7/6/2010 Sweetness and Light sheds the light on this one: “Vice President Joe Biden said after a three-day trip to Baghdad that the American people will see President Barack Obama’s Iraq policy as a success when the “combat mission” ends on schedule on Aug. 31. Biden said the administration “will be able to point to it and say, ‘We told you what we’re going to do, and we did it.’” The ‘surge’ which Messrs Obama and Biden both vehemently opposed led to the success of the combat mission. And the withdraw timetable that is now being followed was agreed to long before Mr. Obama was even elected. But when has Mr. Biden ever let reality get in the way of one of his imbecilic claims? …neither he nor his boss deserve one iota of credit for any of this. Did Obama Flip Flop on War Policy? Hannity says “Yes!” 3/30/2010 Sean Hannity says this Obama Flip-Flop would make John Kerry proud! “President Obama was in Afghanistan over the weekend in his very first visit to that country since his inauguration. While he was on the ground he attended an event with the troops, but take a close look at what he had to say. It is a far cry from what we heard from him on the campaign trail: OBAMA: “The United States of America does not quit once it starts on something. You don’t quit. The American Armed Services does not quit. We keep at it, we persevere. And together with our partners, we will prevail.” … As NewsBusters.org and others are pointing out, it sounds strange coming from a guy who repeatedly called for an abrupt withdrawal from Iraq during the campaign. Remember this? OBAMA, SEPT. 12, 2007: “Let me be clear, there is no military solution in Iraq. There never was. The best way to protect our security and to pressure Iraq’s leaders to resolve their civil war is to immediately begin to remove our combat troops. Not in six months or in one year, but now.”
Obama’s Broken Promise to Have All Troops out of Iraq in 16-months!! 5/20/10As we have reported, today is the promised day that ALL troops were to be out of Iraq. Obama promised all 94,000 troops would be home by now. Reuters reports that eventually Obama changed his promise to say, “I believe that 16 months is the right timeframe but, as I’ve said consistently, I will listen to the recommendations of my commanders.” You didn’t see this story on the mainstream media. While a few other websites followed our lead and covered this story, Couric-BS News even ran a story trying to cover up this Obama broken promise! I guess I must have missed all the stories of the anti-war protesters upset over this…
Obama Iraq Flip-Flop (AGAIN) on Iraq! 8/4/10 We have pointed out many times on this list the Obama flip-flops and lies related to the Iraq war. Website Jumping in Pools adds another one to the list with this video. They play an Obama 2007 video where he says there is nothing we can do to resolve the civil war in Iraq. Next they show a 2009 video of him saying how the troops have done a great job in resolving things for the people of Iraq. As for when to get out of Iraq, we have been all over that one.
