One thing the Socialist-Democrats are doing with the Stimulus money (that was supposed to create millions of jobs) is to spend it on so-called high speed rail, or fast trains. The reality is the trains are “car speed,” not high speed. The billions spent to create them also leaves a major problem for the states. Conservative American Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana knows that.

Some business leaders in Louisiana want the high speed rail anyway. Nola.com reports,…

“Jindal in September refused to proceed with an application for $300 million in federal funds for the high-speed rail project because local officials had not come up with a plan to finance its annual operations. Jindal spokesman Kyle Plotkin said that “nothing has changed” and the governor is still against seeking federal funds for rail because it would make state taxpayers responsible for annual operating and maintenance costs. Jindal aides said last year the state would have had to come up with at least $18 million a year to operate the light-rail system, money it does not have.

There’s the punch line. Your state taxes will have to go up to keep these empty trains running! ConservativeAmerican.org hopes Jindal will keep up the fight. Too bad Wisconsin doesn’t have a governor willing to do the same.

Conservative American Governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana has a campaign fund of more than $7-million now. Nola.com reports the money will help him with his reelection effort in 2011…

“Jindal campaign officials are still finalizing the report, which will provide the completed figures. The governor had more than 9,300 donors, and nearly three of every four contributors gave less than $100, Villere said. Wednesday is the deadline for Louisiana politicians to submit their campaign finance reports covering donations and expenditures during 2009, but some are filing early with the Ethics Administration.”

Newsweek: Jindal Could Be VP

Andrew Romano over at Newsweek says he thinks Conservative American Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana never planned to run for President in 2012, but still might play a key role in the election.

Bobby Jindal could be Vice President

Bobby Jindal could be Vice President

From Romano’s self-described “absurdly premature” discussion of the 2012 race…

“Jindal has mostly shied away from the national spotlight. Many observers have interpreted his reticence as a course correction: the chastened style of a former 2012 hopeful who was seared by his first starring role and has since realized that his time hasn’t come. But I’d argue that the opposite is true: that Jindal never planned to run in 2012?and yet may still play a major part in that election… Jindal was probably calculating that: a.) he’d only be 45 in 2016, and 49 in 2020, and so on, b.) two terms looks better on the resume than one term, and c.) running against an incumbent isn’t all that fun anyway?especially one as personally popular as Obama. His reasoning made a lot of sense. But even then, I thought that logistics and logic wouldn’t preclude Jindal from accepting a different role: that of 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee. And now that leap is looking even likelier. ”

The Romano theory is that Jindal will lay low this year and next to give others the spotlight and work on his own reelection in 2011. He’ll show up at fundraisers around the country, but won’t be the focal point. Ignoring the amazingly popular Sarah Palin, Romano figures the republicans will nominate a white guy and may need to look to Jindal to help them be more multicultural.

Harry Reid will, no doubt, describe Jinal as a “dark-skinned” man who would have no chance at winning the election…even as VP.

Former VP Candidate Sarah Palin will reportedly be appearing in New Orleans at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference April 8th-11th. Some other big names will be showing up too.

WBRZ News in Louisiana says Gov. Bobby Jindal will be heading to the conference along with Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Rino guitar-playing tv show host, Mike Huckabee.

Some have speculated Jindal will run for senate, but he has indicated he will not do that.

Jindal Avoids Tax Hikes!

Conservative American Bobby Jindal is telling state agencies in Louisiana to cut their budgets because revenue the state expected is not coming in. While this is what any of us do in our own homes, it is quite amazing coming from government!

WBRZ News reports Gov. Jindal “ordered wide cuts in state spending Tuesday to cope with an unexpected drop of $248 million in tax revenue.Higher education and health spending, as they often do, will absorb the brunt of the latest reductions — 77 percent. The cut for colleges and universities totals $83.9 million.Health and hospitals face a $108 million reduction.”

The TV station says under Jindal’s plan, the LSU System faces an estimated $45 million reduction, with the main LSU campus assuming $12.6 million of it. LSU Chancellor Michael Martin said Tuesday the news is “quite disheartening” and “very demoralizing.” Martin said officials did their best to protect students in the classroom in the last round of cuts. “I’m not sure we have the capacity to do it this time,” Martin said. “There are just no more ways to trim.”

Yeah, right. There are always more ways to trim! Martin apparently thinks taxpayers should simply pay more taxes so he doesn’t have to do without. Wake up, Mr. Martin! Many people are doing without during this recession. LSU should be no different.

The Conservative American Jindal repeatedly told reporters that state government has to trim its expenditures rather than rely on tax hikes. “We are going to reduce state government to a sustainable size,” he said. “We will not raise taxes.”

The big question is why in the holy freaking crap can’t the federal government operate this way?! Instead, the socialist-democrats continue to simply print more money, create bigger government, and spend, spend, spend!

Ramesh Ponnuru makes an excellent observation at National Review Online about the Op-Ed by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal on health care reform…

Jindal’s Op-Ed [Ramesh Ponnuru] - I imagine congressional Republicans such as Paul Ryan, John Shadegg, Tom Coburn, and Jim DeMint will be annoyed that in the course of urging Republicans to offer health-care alternatives Jindal doesn’t mention any of their existing bills. Several of the ideas Jindal mentions also seem half-baked. For example, requiring insurers to cover pre-existing conditions is either meaningless or unworkable unless Jindal is willing to support forcing people to buy insurance…
