The Department of Defense admitted mistakes today, and announced the resumption of the Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) program. Beginning March 13, the 136,583 military spouses who are currently enrolled in the program will once again be able to receive tuition assistance.

“We made a commitment to our military spouses when they established a career advancement account and we will be true to our promises,” said Tommy Thomas, deputy under secretary of defense, military community and family policy.

The first phase of the reinstated program will enable the department to continue to pay up to $6,000 in tuition assistance for spouses currently enrolled. The department says it is working hard to adjust and meet the demands of the program.

Meanwhile, the DOD says it will work to develop a long-term solution for spouses not yet enrolled who would like to establish an account.

The program was launched March 2, 2009, to assist military spouses in attaining portable careers in high-demand, high-growth occupations. An unexpected spike in enrollment prompted the Defense Department to “pause” the program on Feb. 16. Military spouses were caught off guard by the move and called to complain. That caused the DOD to start a review to assure the program was accomplishing its intended goals.

“When we determined that an operational pause in the program was critically needed, we failed to notify our spouses in a timely and appropriate manner,” said Thomas. “As a result of our failure, we know we will have to work hard to restore their faith in us. We are committed to earning that trust through improved communication and by delivering services.”

The Defense Department is currently developing options for the long-term management of the program and expect to be able to announce the details soon. Until new accounts can be created, Military OneSource Spouse Education and Career Consultants will continue to be available to provide education and training, career exploration, assessment, employment readiness and career search assistance.

The GOP seems poised to retake the U.S. House in November. However, nothing should be taken for granted. Can the GOP also take the U.S. Senate? Perhaps it is time for another 1994-style Contract with America. It would need to be simple, memorable, and resonate with Conservative Americans and Tea Partiers. Below you’ll find my suggestion.

The 2010 Conservative American Contract With America

1. Lowering Taxes - We’re taxed enough already! Not just saying no to new taxes or tax increases, but saying YES to lowering tax rates across the board for all Americans who pay taxes, and to lowering business taxes to promote economic growth.
2. Energizing America the Right Way! -
   Trade wind for nuclear power! Let the private sector figure out if wind and solar energy can be profitable. Get the government out of the way so more nuclear power plants and clean-coal power plants can be built all around the nation right now!
   Trade solar for clean coal! Offer incentives to construct these new power plants so they can supply the energy needed for a strong economy.
   Drill Baby, Drill! Drill here. Drill now. Right now. And Drill any government agency or special interest group that tries to get in the way. Offshore drilling approved now so we can harvest oil off our shores instead of watching as the Mexican and Chinese governments do it!
3. Repealing the Nonsense! - Vow to repeal any health care reform nonsense the Progressive-Socialist-Democrats pass against the will of the people. Promise that any unspent Stimulus money will be repealed. Use bailout paybacks only to pay down the debt.

That’s it. A simple three-step plan to economic recovery and to restoring America’s greatness! This is what Conservative Republicans should run on and promise to accomplish if given control of the chambers. If the President vetoes the items, Republicans must ask for control of the White House in 2012 and offer a Conservative Republican candidate who will make it happen.

Share this plan with your friends, email it, facebook it, twitter it,… let’s bring this country back to a position of economic strength. We can do it!

The point here is to offer a SIMPLE, understandable and honest plan Americans will support. No 2,700 page plan of bull to save the health of the nation! Just simple Conservative American values in action. Remember, more than 40% of Americans consider themselves Conservatives.

Details. Sure, we can provide details. The marketing message must be simple however. For those who want the details, they should be provided online. Details under reducing taxes, for example, can also include agreement to reduce the size of government…specific ideas for entire departments that can be eliminated or privatized. Time for D.C. to tighten its belt!

Why not be bold (Americans might faint if the GOP actually tried it) and end the practice of unionizing government workers? Why let the Progressive-Socialist-Democrats (and yes, we should CALL THEM THAT) get away with institutionalizing their political party? Why allow them to make themselves the Official State Religion? My plan, the Political Donations Choice Act (also not 2,700 pages) can be found here. America needs to stop and think about things like this. The Progressive-Socialist-Democrats have managed to use tax dollars to create bigger and more powerful labor unions which give money only to them. They use tax dollars to fund their own political agenda. Your tax dollars pay the government workers. Some of those wages go to the union. Most of those dues go to the Progressive-Socialist-Democrats. That’s why I call them the Offiical State Religion. It’s just not right, but they do it anyway. Time for all of that to stop. My plan would do just that.

This week the President started out on yet another cross-country campaign tour promoting his Washington takeover of health care. President Obama’s main theme so far has been the outrageous profits of the insurance companies and how his plan is going to keep them under control and protect patients against their abusive practices. Like much of the health care debate, though, President Obama seems to be speaking out of both sides of his mouth.

President Obama’s health care plan would actually provide a massive bailout to the insurance industry, a total of $336 billion in government subsidies for private health insurance, while requiring every American to buy their product. This is a backdoor way of paying off the big insurance companies.

And there’s more. In addition to the subsidies, the government would use its powerful collection agency, the Internal Revenue Service, to make sure that every individual complies with the mandate to buy expensive private insurance. Yet President Obama insists on promoting himself as America’s protector against the insurance industry.

How gullible does he think we are? No wonder President Obama has a major credibility problem.

Call your Congressman today to stop this destructive bill from becoming law. We need to start from scratch with an honest discussion on how to reform health care.

What do Americans get in exchange for this major bailout of insurance companies? Over a trillion dollars in new taxes and fines levied on individuals and businesses, another half-trillion dollars of Medicare cuts and a broken promise from the president that you can keep the plan you have right now if you like it.

Another artificial deadline set by the President is approaching - March 18th - and it’s critical that we make our voices heard to prevent this insurance company bailout from taking place. Call your Congressman today!

It’s been almost a year since we told you about a controversial Catholic-bashing appointment President Barack Obama had made. His name is Harry Knox. He’s openly gay, hopelessly liberal and full of hate for Roman Catholics and the Pope. He also apparently passed all the vetting process to be named to… wait for it… the President’s Committee on Faith!!!

Conservative American congressman Mike Pence is joining us in calling for Obama to rid himself of this little wart.

From the Official Obama Administration Scandals List (#276):

“Obama’s Latest Attack on Catholics (& Appointment Scandal #43) Harry Knox - 4/9/9 Catholics are already ticked off Obama has forced them to pay taxes to fund abortions in other countries & that he plans to speak at Catholic Notre Dame. Now, Obama spits on Catholics & appoints a Pope-Hating, Gay, Liberal to a committee on…faith! Knox, a director at the Rights for Gay Humans Campaign in D.C., blasted bishops for pushing to make same-sex marriage unconstitutional (Prop. 8 in CA), called the Knights of Columbus “foot soldiers of a discredited army of oppression,” and said bishops and Pope Benedict are “discredited leaders.” Fox Reports Catholic League President William Donahue knows Knox is not simply a critic; “He’s insulting. He used disdainful, disparaging terms to talk about the pope and the Catholic hierarchy. If someone were appointed using that language about homosexuals, he would be thrown out.” Amen to that. Amen.”

Now, from CNS News comes this report…

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) says that it is “long overdue” for President Barack Obama to fire Harry Knox from the White House Advisory Council for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships because of the “vehement anti-Catholic statements” Knox has made. “Harry Knox’s repeated, intolerant statements about the Catholic Church and Catholic teachings make it totally inappropriate for him to serve on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships,” Pence told CNSNews.com in an interview Friday. “Harry Knox’s termination from the president’s Faith-Based Advisory Council is long-over due. And we would renew our call for Harry Knox to be removed from that position by the president.”

Pence says its absurd for a person who has made such hateful comments about a specific religion to remain an adviser to the President on matters of Faith. Yes, it is. Unless, of course, the President agrees with him.

When CNSNews.com asked Knox on Feb. 2 whether he still stands by an assertion he made in March 2009 that Pope Benedict XVI was “hurting people in the name of Jesus” because he does not condoning condom distribution as the solution to AIDS in Africa, Knox said: “I do.”

The Official Obama Administration Scandals list is 24 pages long. It contains documented information (dates, times, sources and links) to more than one thousand different items. That’s a “Scandal Free” Start??!!”

Now, we call it the “Scandals” list only to give it a name. It contains not only scandals, but also lies, broken promises, flip-flops and gaffes from the Obama Administration. It’s hard to keep up! This is what columnist Walter Shapiro calls a “Scandal Free White House!” He even wonders aloud at Politics Daily, “Is Obama Very Ethical or Very Lucky?”

What Planet is Shapiro living on? Surely he must be kidding, right? Nope. His justification for the conclusion?

“he is not brooding during secret cigarette breaks about special prosecutors, congressional investigators or relentless investigative reporters. In contrast to Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and maybe even George H.W. Bush, Obama so far has presided over an administration almost entirely free from major public scandal.”

Talk about missing the point. No special prosecutors or investigators? Fine. Gee, that couldn’t have anything to do with the progressive democrats controlling both the house and the senate, could it? No relentless investigative reporters? The reporters, as Shapiro knows well, tend only to investigate Republican administrations. It can’t be a scandal if it involves someone they agree with (work for?) like Obama.

Mr. Shaprio, sir, how about the biggest scandal in our nation’s history? This man is trying to change the very fabric of this nation from the touch, the feel of cotton to some type of burlap socialist weave! Don’t like that one?

How about his continued support of the hoax of man-made global warming? He may not have a sex scandal or an employee breaking the law (there is some question already that Jim Messina may have done just that if he offered a politician a job in exchange for not running against an Obama-loved candidate), but these items are small in comparison to destroying the greatest nation on earth.

Shapiro calls Van Jones no big deal. Oh, and that thing with Tom Daschle…no problem there. That’s just Glenn Beck stuff. The lies? The hypocrisy? Flip-flops and broken promises? Nah, that’s nothing.

Give us a break! There are so many scandals we filled a 400+ page book after just one year!

People like Shapiro, with their heads in the sand, will only empower the progressive-Socialists to continue their aggressive power grabs despite the loud disagreement of most Americans. It’s ridiculous for Shapiro to consider this a Scandal-Free administration.

Presumed 2012 Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin writes on her Facebook page this afternoon that it’s time for Americans to stand up for the Navy SEALS. From her Facebook…

“First the Obama Administration opened up the possibility of prosecuting CIA interrogators doing their jobs seeking information from terrorists. Then they tried to go after the Bush Administration lawyers who acted in good faith to protect us in the months after 9/11. Now some of the military brass are court-martialing three brave Navy SEALs for allegedly throwing a single punch at Iraqi terrorist leader Ahmed Hashim Abed. This is wrong. The Washington Times got it right: Save the SEALs. These brave warriors belong in combat, not in the courthouse. They captured the most wanted terrorist in Iraq. We may never know how many other heroic missions they undertook on behalf of our country. The charges should be dropped, and they should be returned to their unit – with our gratitude for their service. Stand up for the SEALs who are standing up for us! - Sarah Palin”

This was the number one scandal of the year on our Obama’s Top 10 Scandals List from 2009. From that post, we learn the details (below):

“Obama Puts Navy Seals on Trial for Capturing a Most-Wanted Terrorist! -We picked this one (as number one on the list) because it is symbolic of what Sarah Palin called the “Back Assward” methodology of this President. He wants to put CIA agents on trial while giving Terrorists Miranda rights, he wants to push socialist health care while ignoring a request for more troops. In the Obama Galaxy, everything is upside down and backwards. He and his administration are so against the grain of this nation, it is astounding he was elected. He could put an end to this scandal with one phone call. So, why doesn’t he? In the upside world that Commander Obama is in charge of, the bad guy terrorists get criminal trials with all the rights of U.S. citizens and the good guy Navy SEALs who capture them get to…GO TO JAIL?!!! A terrorist murdering thug gets a bloody lip (don’t you feel bad for him?) and the radical extremist leadership of our very own nation is prosecuting the soldiers who captured him!! “Instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers. Matthew McCabe, Jonathan Keefe, and Julio Huertas.” ConservativeAmerican.org, for one, thanks them for their service. These guys caught the man responsible for capturing, killing and burning the bodies of several Americans. He then hung the burned bodies from a bridge and got it on video for the whole world to see. A bloody lip seems mild.”

Palin is right. ConservativeAmerican.org is right. McCabe, Keefe and Huertas were right.
