Reid Denies Taped Evidence

Monday, January 5th, 2009

By Peter Andrew ConservativeAmerican.org

US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid-er today told NBC’s “Meet the Democrat Press” that he does not remember his phone call with Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich about who should replace Barack Obama in the US Senate.  Reider also indicated he does not remember if he offered any names of people who would be good.

That’s a pretty lousy memory for something that happened just a few weeks ago!  However, Reid is getting older.  I do remember the democrats pointing out that old guys like McCain (and Reid) could drop dead at any minute.  Maybe that explains it.

However, Reid says he DOES remember that he did NOT offer any names of people who should NOT take the Obama senate seat.  My mother calls that kind of thing “selective hearing loss.”

Reid is involved in this Obama administration scandal.  The Chicago Tribune says he did, in fact, tell Blago not to appoint three men, all of whom were black.

How does Reid explain the difference in the two stories?  He says Blago is just making all that stuff up and that it never happened.

The federal prosecutor has tapes of the phone conversation between Blago and Reid.  We can quickly find out who is telling the truth if the prosecutor would just release the tape of that call or a transcript of that call.  Don’t hold your breath, however.  The prosecutor is a democrat hoping for an Obama re-appointment.

Where the Heck is Dick Durbin?!

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Dick Durbin

Dick Durbin

Where the Heck is US Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) in all of this scandal about filling Barack Obama’s old senate seat?

Durbin has said VERY LITTLE about any of this.  He was reportedly upset about the situation before the news even broke, because Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich took 12 days to return Durbin’s phone call.   Durbin apparently wanted to make sure his opinion was considered when a decision was made.

The H.R. Huff-n-Stuff Post reported on November 24th:

“Senator Dick Durbin finally spoke with Gov. Blagojevich about President-elect Obama’s Senate replacement, according to a comment from a Durbin staffer to Capitol Fax. Durbin, who has an uneasy relationship with Blagojevich, had publicly expressed his frustration that the governor had not been returning his calls.”

Yeah.  Who does Blago think he is not to return Dick Durbin’s calls?  Durbin was quick to return the political mistreatment when Blago was arrested.  From NBC News reporter Carrie Dann on December 9th:

Sen. Dick Durbin…called today for a special election to fill Barack Obama’s Senate seat, saying that “no appointment could produce a credible replacement” in light of this morning’s arrest of Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Durbin says he spoke with a member of the state’s general assembly this morning, urging the legislature to enact a law calling for a special election and saying that a “tainted” appointment by the governor…would be unacceptable.  “I think it’s the only way out at this point,”  Durbin said…he hoped the Illinois legislature would put together a bill with a bipartisan supermajority, implying that resistance from the governor could be possible. “Most executives don’t like to give up any power,” he said.  Durbin also lamented what he described as a strained relationship with the governor of his state, calling him a “difficult man to communicate with” who dallied for 12 days before returning Durbin’s phone call last month in regard to the Senate appointment. ”

Sure sounds like poor Mr. Durbin had his feelings hurt. Does the US Prosecutor’s office have tapes of the call between Blago and Durbin? What did Durbin say?  Did Durbin, as US Senate Majority Whip, urge Blago NOT to appoint one of three black men as Harry Reid reportedly did?  Did Durbin also suggest Lisa Madigan as Reid did?  Why isn’t the press asking Durbin more about this?

Durbin may soon have more than his feelings hurt. FOX NEWS reports:

“William Walls of the Committee for a Better Chicago called Harry Reid’s opposition to the appointment of Jackson, Davis or Jones, all of whom are black, an act of racism. “The U.S. Senate is an institution that is primarily white and has been forever and some people are more comfortable with people of their own kind,” Walls told FOXNews.com. “Harry Reid seems to be one of those people.” Walls has vowed to rally activists in an effort to politically defeat Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin and Secretary of State Jesse White if they don’t support Blagojevich’s appointment  for the seat, Roland Burris.”

Harry Reid-er Involved in Blagojevich Scandal

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

News reports say US Senate Majority “leader” Harry Reid-er was involved in the controversy over filling the senate seat of the half-black prince, Barack Obama.  FOX News is reporting Reid called Blago six days before the Illinois Governor was arrrested to talk about the seat.

Harry Reider reportedly urged Blago NOT to appoint several black people to the post including Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., Congressman Danny Davis and Obama friend Emil Jones.   Instead Harry Reider urged the Blago Wizard to use his magic to appoint one of several white people including Lisa Madigan.  Fox Reports:

Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX, said Reid needs to explain his actions.Reid “took the extraordinary step to lobby against two sitting U.S. congressmen and the state Senate majority leader in Illinois, and instead told Gov. Blagojevich that he supported an appointment for an individual who recently lost a U.S. House election,” he said in a written statement, referring to Duckworth. “The people of Illinois deserve a simple explanation from Sen. Reid,” he continued. “Why does he believe these three Illinois officeholders are ‘unelectable’ to the U.S. Senate?”

Pelosi should talk to Reid, not Bush

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Fox News is reporting the following:

“Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called on Bush Thursday to act quickly to prevent “the imminent insolvency of the domestic auto industry,” as dismal new unemployment data surfaced Thursday. Pelosi — citing news that 554,000 Americans filed for jobless claims last week — said “it is critical that Democrats and Republicans work together to ensure that the new year is a time of new economic opportunities for all Americans.”

Pelosi needs to call on Senate Leader Harry Reid to act, not President Bush.  This is a transparent partisan move to blame republicans (and Bush) yet again.  She knows Bush will sign what they can pass on the hill.  Her lie that “it is critical democrats and republicans work together” also is politics as usual.  Reid and Dick Durbin, of the Obama Chicago Administration,  have control of the US Senate.  The republicans have no power to do anything.  Reid and Durbin don’t need a single republican vote to get this passed.

All Pelosi is doing is trying to prevent the blame from landing where it belongs: with Harry Reid.

Please don’t misunderstand any of this to mean we want an auto bailout!  No way.  We are drafting a thank-you letter now to Reid to praise him for his incompetence.

Obama In, Chrysler Back - January 20th

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

The big three automakers are upset with conservatives, republicans and President George W. Bush for not handing them billions of dollars to stay alive for a few more weeks.  While Ford is in better shape, GM is desperate and Chrysler has announced a shut-down of all of its plants for a month.

It’s no coincidence that Chrysler workers will return and plants will be running again (in joyful triumph as trumpets play) on the very same day Barack Obama takes the oath of office; January 20th.  Chrysler is sending a clear message.  They are sitting things out for now and just waiting for the new President to come in and save them and their Chrysler stock.  GM, Ford and Chrysler have a great deal riding on January 20th.  They are counting on…

Reid Wrong Again.

Friday, December 12th, 2008

If only these could be Reid’s famous LAST words…

“I dread looking at Wall Street tomorrow. It’s not going to be a pleasant sight.”

- US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democrat 12/11/08

Harry Reid said your stocks were going to tumble today…more LEADERSHIP BY PANIC.  The Dow Jones Industrial Average was UP about 65 points today.  That’s not even a percentage point, but it is UP.  Reid was wrong again.

Ford Strongest of Three

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Ford is in the best financial shape of the big three automakers as the markets prepare to react to Democrat Senator Harry Reid’s failure to pass an auto bailout bill yesterday.  Reid and Democrat Chicago-Style Dick Durbin of Illinois could not get enough of their own party to agree to the bailout so it failed last night.

GM says it will run short of cash in the next few weeks.  Bankruptcy soon for them.  Chrysler says it can make it into January, but that’s it.  Bankruptcy soon for them.  Ford says, while it is struggling too, it has enough loans in place to make it through all of 2009.  Ford is in the best financial position of the automakers.

Americans don’t want any auto bailout and for now they won.  Never fear though, the Office of the President Elect is here!  There will be more attempts to give tax dollars to

Union Households Glad Reid/Bailout Failed!

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Fox News is reporting the results of a survey today that prove what ConservativeAmerican.org has been saying all along; Americans don’t want anymore bailouts for anyone, not even GM, Ford or Chrysler.

The financial crisis has resulted in fears of a depression.  But most Americans are patriots and free trade capitalist patriots.  They don’t want to see their tax dollars used to artificially prop up (”save”) a private industry like car manufacturing.  Any bailout would be nothing more than a Band-Aid put on right before you jump in a swimming pool; it would be bound to fall off and fail.

Fox reports the following:

Nearly six in ten Americans (58 percent) disapprove of the federal government giving U.S. automakers billions of dollars

Wall Street Not Going To Be Pleasant Friday?

Friday, December 12th, 2008

“I dread looking at Wall Street tomorrow. It’s not going to be a pleasant sight.”

- US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democrat

Harry Reid says your stocks are going to tumble today. As we have written before, this is more LEADERSHIP BY PANIC. If stocks dive today, it is only because HE IS A FAILURE! He will say as long and loud as he can that the Republican US Senators held this up. That is solid Bull Feces. The republicans don’t have the votes to hold anything up in the US Senate. The Democrats can pass this without one single republican vote.

However, Reid and his pal Dick Durbin (Democrat from Illinois…land of Blagojevich) could not convince enough members of their own party to vote for this! Durbin is Majority Whip and is supposed to have the job of strong-arming his fellow dems to vote with the party. Apparently he needs to work out more. Enough democrats stood up and said “no way” to the auto bailout that it simply could not pass.

The $25 Billion GM, Ford and Chrysler wanted, that later grew to $34-Billion, eventually turned into a proposal to offer them $15-Billion and finally $14-Billion. It is true that republican US Senators said, “Hey wait a minute, the UAW needs to make concessions too. Or, we’ll just have good money chasing bad.” The UAW said they would, in fact, agree to cut wages to the level of what Japanese car makers are paying…but NOT until 2011. GM will be gone by then. Their response frustrated enough democrat senators that the measure died.

So now Harry Reid, in another amazingly stupid statement, says your stocks are going to tumble. Did he mention that if they do tumble it is because of him? Did he mention if the Wall Street investors are unhappy it is because he and Dick Durbin failed to lead their own party?

We’re glad no bailout passed. We don’t want anymore bailouts. If Wall Street wants to cry about that, let it. Wall Street should rejoice in the fact that somehow a free market capitalist voice was heard and no bailout was passed. We don’t care who did it, we’re glad it failed. If we have to thank democrats for that, we will.

The American people have won this round.

Reid Fails To Get Job Done

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

It’s NO DEAL for an auto bailout, at least for now. Negotiations late into the night failed to produce an agreement to give billions of tax dollars to GM, Ford & Chrysler. This is one huge failure for Harry Reid.

What kind of leader is Harry Reid? He has a majority in the US Senate. He did not need a single republican vote to pass the bailout for his United Auto Worker buddies. President Bush had already agreed to sign the bill! This was a no-brainer for Reid and that, is precisely the problem. I hope the dems leave this failure as the leader of the Senate. The democrat US Senators prevented this bailout from happening. The democrats in the Senate have abandoned the UAW.

Even with a majority, even with the election of his Half Black Prince, this Harry Reider was not able to cast a spell on his own party. No flying car will be taking this student to Hogwarts (Detroit) anytime soon.

Will they try again? Yes. Will it work next time? It may not!!! There is hope we can prevent this bailout from ever seeing the light of day. Understand that there must have been enough democrats that Reid could not control or sway to prevent this thing from passing the Senate. Don’t listen to any report that says republicans held this up or prevented it from passing. They do not have the power to do any such thing. They simply don’t have the votes. If they did have the votes and power, and if they could have stopped this thing, I would be giving them much praise here.

Yes, some republicans were trying to get the UAW to agree to take pay equal to what the Japanese auto makers are providing. The UAW said no way to that, even if it means destroying the entire industry.

No deal tonight. This bailout measure loses.

The American people win. At least for now.
