Associated Press writer Stephen Ohlemacher had a news story yesterday about President Barack H. Obama’s latest nominee with tax problems, Lael Brainard. We think he left out two pretty important details.

First, Ohlemacher’s report says Brainard “is the fifth presidential nominee to reveal tax issues during the congressional vetting process.” The key to the partial truth in that sentence is “during the congressional” vetting process. While Ohlemacher likely is factually correct, the sentence certainly is misleading. One reads it and thinks, “Oh, that’s the 5th appointment he made with tax issues.” That is not true.

In fact, it doesn’t count HALF of Obama’s nominees with tax troubles. By our count, on the Official Obama Administration Scandals List, this is the TENTH presidential nominee to have tax issues revealed. Our list is below…

Below are the ten on Obamas “Tax Cheater” List so far. The second thing we think Ohlemacher should have pointed out is featured in number “6″ below. The first nominee for this same position also had tax issues and withdrew from consideration.

5. Trade Rep Ron Kirk
6. The first nominee for the same position that Lael Brainard is going for!! (Undersecretary of International Affairs) Caroline Atkinson
7. The first Health nominee Tom Daschle
8. Chief Performance Officer nominee Nancy Killefer
9. Labor Secretary nominee Hilda Solis
10. And of course the guy in charge of the IRS, Tim the Tax Cheat Geithner.

Four of these were nominated in the first 16 days of Obama’s administration!

As for the issues with Brainard, Ohlemacher does a fine job of detailing them…

“Brainard was late in paying real estate taxes in 2005, 2006 and 2007 on property in Northern Virginia, according to the report by the Senate Finance Committee staff. The report also challenges the accuracy of a deduction Brainard claimed for running an office from her home. The challenge led Brainard to reduce the deduction on her 2008 return, though she declined to adjust returns for 2005, 2006 and 2007, telling committee staff she used a reasonable method to calculate the deductions. Brainard paid most of the late property taxes before she was nominated, in March. However, she told the committee that she realized after her nomination that her 2008 property taxes had not been paid. They were paid in September, the report said.”

The Obama administration is on three different pages (all at the same time) on the issue of government setting the pay at private companies. Barack Obama says he has no idea what the Pay Czar is doing. The Pay Czar says he’s cutting pay as much as 90%. And the Treasury Secretary says it’s not a good idea for government to set pay. Will the real Obama administration please stand up?

From scandal # 349 on the Official Obama Administration Scandals list dated 5/18/9, we told you “Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said…that government should place “broad constraints” on the incentives that huge pay packages create for executives to take short-term risks. But he drew the line at government determining levels of pay. “I don’t think our government should set caps on compensation.”

That comment was either a flip flop in the administration policy, or Tim the Tax Cheat Geithner is disagreeing with his boss! That’s because, as we reported back on 2/4/9, “President B-Rock announced today that executives working for companies where the government has significant ownership will no longer be able to earn more than $500,000 a year. Never before in this great nation’s history has a President taken such a huge step to limit the income of our citizens. This is a huge, bold and brazen step into the socialist pool.”

Leading the way Right (Again!), we told you the Obama Deficit Stimulus Planwould quadruple the deficit and now Obama’s own Treasury Department agrees! Ah, but to the nation’s first socialist president and his neo-socialist democrat party, deficits no longer matter!!! Fox reports:

“The federal budget deficit soared to a record for May of $189.7 billion, pushing the tide of red ink close to $1 trillion with four months left in the budget year. The rising deficit reflects increased government spending due to the recession, and billions of dollars spent on bailouts for banks and other troubled companies. The Treasury Department reported Wednesday that the red ink so far this year totals $991.9 billion. The administration is projecting the deficit for the budget year that began Oct. 1, will total an all-time record of $1.84 trillion. That would be more than four times the amount of last year’s record deficit.

Not to worry. Remember Obama’s promise to (first quadruple then) cut the budget in half? Hmmm. Check my math, but that still would make it DOUBLE what President Bush had…and his was too high! Obama Budget Director, Mrs. Peter Orszag, says deficits like this can destroy the economy!! So if Orszag and Tim the Tax Cheat Geithner over at the Treasury both say this is horrible news…why do both of them, and their boss keep adding to the deficit?! The “sort of God”-President Obama just keeps right on spending and spending (he just promised to speed up spending $700-billion more from his deficit stimulus bill), having weekly White House parties and lavish dates while he bankrupts our nation and does further damage to an already weakened economy. Get ready for the possibility of high interest rates and inflation.

By Peter Andrew ConservativeAmerican.org Team Obama sent Rep. Barney Frank out yesterday to claim they want to “Protect your Freedom.”  What they really want to do is “Create New Taxes!” Fox News reports:

“If running major financial institutions and the auto industry isn’t enough for the Obama administration, a new House bill would put the Treasury Department in charge of Internet gambling…the legislation grants the Treasury Department far-reaching power over online gambling. The bill would allow the Treasury secretary to license and revoke licenses of Internet gambling Web sites under the guise of protection Americans’ personal freedoms to gamble and consumer protection concerns. The bill would also allow the Treasury secretary to “assess” license holders for the costs of background checks and investigations of Web sites applying for the license. And the bill provides for mechanisms for state and local taxes to be collected and re-distributed.“

They don’t care about protecting your freedom! They only care about creating new and bigger government, and new and bigger taxes! This is nothing more than the federal government conducting a money grab. Fox reports the legislation also will repeal language passed in 2006 and signed into law by President Bush that made it illegal for banks and credit card companies to process bets made on the Internet.

At a press conference today to supposedly close some tax loopholes, President Barack Hussein (sounds like Who’sInsane) Obama made the following astonishing admission

“The way to make American businesses competitive is not to let some citizens and businesses dodge their responsibility, while ordinary Americans pick up the slack. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what we’re doing.”

Wow!  Quite an admission.  He’s right though.  That is exactly what HE is doing.  He picked more than seven tax cheaters for top cabinet and administration posts.  Those citizens Obama picked, are in fact citizens who, as he said, “doge their responsibility, while ordinary Americans pick up the slack.”  He’s right that this is not the way to go.  The question is, what will he do about it?

By his own admission and statement he should be asking for several resignations today including one from Tim the Tax Cheat Geithner.  Or is he suggesting to the American people that what is good for the goose is NOT good for his democrat gander?! That would once again make him Obama the Hypocrite.

Fox reports the President also said the government also is hiring nearly 800 new tax agents “to detect and pursue American tax evaders.”  800?! That’s a little much.  Why can’t he just spend an hour of his own time firing the tax evaders he has hired? I mean he admitted letting people like Geithner dodge their responsibility is wrong and that it is “exactly what WE’RE doing.”

This isn’t about catching tax evaders and closing loopholes.  It’s about raising taxes on American business.  Obama misses the point of his own point!!! ”The current law, Obama said, “says you should pay lower taxes if you create a job in Bangalore, India, than if you create one in Buffalo, New York.” He could be right…but not in the way he thinks.  If his premise is true, the answer of course, is to lower taxes here so it is profitable to create jobs here just as it is in Bangalore, India or anywhere else.  Obama misses the obvious though.

His answer is to raise taxes on businesses  doing business overseas and double-tax them.  So he wants to punish those he thinks are evil, instead of creating incentives for businesses to keep jobs here.  Fox quotes the US Chamber of Commerce: “The United States is the only major industrialized country which double taxes the overseas earnings of our companies. Since other countries don’t subject their companies to double taxation, U.S. companies need deferral to stay competitive in the global marketplace.”

Spineless republicans likely won’t even fight him on this.  There will be a few, but not enough to matter.
