301. Obama’s Speedy Flip-Flop on CIA Prosecution! - 4/21/9 - President Obama when CIA interrogation memos were released: “I prohibited the use of these interrogation techniques…because they undermine our moral authority and do not make us safer. It is our intention to assure those who carried out their duties relying in good faith upon legal advice from the Department of Justice that they will not be subject to prosecution…because of their sacrifices, every single American is safer. We must…provide them with the confidence that they can do their jobs.” Sooooooo, at the same time the President said we’re not safer AND we are safer, he also said he is not in favor of releasing secret memos but he released the secret memos. Following this? Caving to pressure from liberal democrat-socialists, Obama now opened the door to prosecution for some: “With respect to those who formulate those legal decisions, I would say that that is going to be more of a decision for the attorney general within the parameters of various laws, and I don’t want to prejudge that. … There are a host of very complicated issues involved there.” Things do get very complicated when you play both sides of the issue! Next, he repeated his claim that prosecuting Bush officials could get politicized, then flipped and said he would be open to those prosecutions if they were “bipartisan.” Clearly that is not possible. From Fox: “White House Press Secretary Gibbs and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel indicated over the past two days that the president did not favor opening the memos’ authors to charges. Gibbs deflected the suggestion that the president was responding to pressure from the left to support prosecutions” because now he does favor opening them to charges. This president tries to be on both sides of every issue…at the same time!
302. Obama Abandons Black Farmers! - 4/21/9 Fox News: “Senator Barack Obama led the charge last year to pass a bill allowing black farmers to seek new discrimination claims against the Agriculture Department. Now he is president, and his administration so far is acting like it wants the potentially budget-busting lawsuits to go away. The change isn’t sitting well with black farmers who thought they’d get a friendlier reception from Obama after years of resistance from President George W. Bush. “You can’t blame it on the Bush administration anymore,” said John Boyd, head of the National Black Farmers Association, which has organized the lawsuits. “I can’t figure out for the life of me why the president wouldn’t want to implement a bill that he fought for as a U.S. senator.”
303. Obama’s Interrogation Techniques Lie! - 4/21/9 On the very same day the President said tough CIA interrogation methods do not make us safer, his national intelligence director told him they did make us safer. 4/16/9 Obama: “In one of my very first acts as President, I prohibited the use of these interrogation techniques by the United States because they undermine our moral authority and do not make us safer.” 4/21/9 New York Times: “High value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qa’ida organization that was attacking this country…I do not fault those who made the decisions at that time, and I will absolutely defend those who carried out the interrogations within the orders they were given,” Adm. Dennis C. Blair, the intelligence director, wrote in a memo to his staff.” Admiral Blair’s assessment that the interrogation methods did produce important information was deleted from a condensed version of his memo released to the media. So, President Obama knew the methods did keep us safer when he told the nation they did “not make us safer.” That’s a lie in my book.
304. Obama’s Gitmo - The latest (and biggest?) Obama flip-flop - 4/21/9 William McGurn at the Wall Street Journal notes the contrast between Obama the candidate who said there should be a “rejection of the Bush administration’s attempt to create a legal black hole at Guantanamo” and Obama the President who now has his own “legal black hole” at Bagram Air Force Base in Iraq. On the senate floor in 2006 Obama said “I do not want to hear that this is a new world and we face a new kind of enemy.” Mr. McGurn quotes a Glenn Greenwald, a former constitutional law litigator, who said “These actions — these contradictions between what he said and what he is doing, the embrace of the very powers that caused so much anger towards Bush/Cheney — are so blatant, so transparent, so extreme, that the only way to avoid noticing them is to purposely shut your eyes as tightly as possible and resolve that you don’t want to see it, or that you’re so convinced of his intrinsic Goodness that you’ll just believe that even when it seems like he’s doing bad things, he must really be doing them for the Good.”
305. Obama’s Fake Budget Cuts!- 4/21/9 President Obama is worried about the “confidence gap” the public has over his huge increase in the size of the federal government. So he’s pretending to be a budget-cutter. He proposes the biggest increase in government spending ever then asks his cabinet to cut $100-million in spending… The New York Post says that’s a whopping .0027%!
306. Intelligence Director is “Admiral Flip Flop”- 4/22/9 Admiral Dennis Blair, National Intel Director told Obama on April 16th the CIA methods worked and kept Americans safer. The same day Obama said they did not work and did not keep us safer. Blair had also written: “Those methods, read on a bright, sunny, safe day in April 2009, appear graphic and disturbing. I like to think I would not have approved those methods in the past, but I do not fault those who made the decisions at that time, and I will absolutely defend those who carried out the interrogations within the orders they were given.” After likely being scolded for admitting the methods worked and saved lives, Fox reports Blair had to do a flip-flop: “He later issued a statement saying the techniques are not needed to keep Americans safe and that the information gleaned using them “was valuable in some instances, but there is no way of knowing whether the same information could have been obtained through other means.”
307. Obama Sides with Terrorists Over Americans! - 4/22/9 - KOA Radio reports: “the Obama regime asked a federal court to throw out a lawsuit filed by Americans held hostage for 444 days by the terrorist regime of Iran during the Carter administration. The suit seeks $6.6 billion from the genocidal terrorist regime (in Iran), but the Obama regime, siding with the terrorists, says an agreement between Carter and the terrorists disallows the suit.”
308. Obama Not Slick Enough for Castro - 4/22/9 Newsmax: “Obama eases travel and remittance restrictions on Cuba, and considers dropping the embargo on Cuba. Fidel Castro later expresses his exasperation with Obama’s way with words, saying Obama “misinterpreted” what his brother Raul had said. Cuba would not be willing to negotiate about human rights, Castro insists.”
309. Obama Hurts the Earth on Earth Day - 4/22/9 CBS News reports that Obama’s Earth Day flights burned up more than 9,000 gallons of fuel. Mark Knoller reports: “President Obama could have saved at least 9,116 gallons of fuel by giving his speech at the White House.”
310. Obama: Still No Accountability! - 4/23/9 After being critical of the Bush Team for not having any accountability in the first bailout bill, ABC News reports today: “The GAO study asserts that officials from most of the states surveyed ‘expressed concerns regarding the lack of Recovery Act funding provided for accountability and oversight. Due to fiscal constraints, many states reported significant declines in the number of oversight staff — limiting their ability to ensure proper implementation and management of Recovery Act funds.’ “
311. Obama’s National Economic Council Leader Falls Asleep Again! 4/23/9 - Larry Summers Does it Again! This time he’s so worried about the “credit card crisis” and the economy is sooooooo bad (*yawn*) that he fell asleep at the President’s credit meeting today! See scandal dated 2/23/9 for the first time this happened.
312. Napolitano - Border Crossing Lie - 4/24/9 KOA Radio’s Gunny Bob catches Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano in two lies! First: “on CNN, Obama regime DHS Secretary Napolitano, a pro-illegal alien amnesty activist, lied by stating “crossing the border is not a crime per se” in refering to illegal aliens. In reality, 8 U.S.C. 1325 states very cleary that illegally crossing the US border is a crime: a misdeamor for the first offense and a felony for additional offenses.”
313. Napolitano - Canadian Terrorist Entry Lie - 4/24/9 Second, KOA Radio’s Gunny Bob reports Team Obama’s Janet “Napolitano claimed that some of the 9-11 terrorists entered the US via Canada. This is an outright lie. As the 9-11 Commission reported, all of the 9-11 terrorists entered the US from abroad. She then stated that no terrorists have entered the US via Mexico, which is patently false according to the Director of the FBI in testimony before the Congress.” UPDATE 4/24/9 “I knew the minute it came out of my mouth it was wrong,” she said. Republicans now are calling for her resignation. UPDATE 5/27/9 - In Canada, Fox reports: “Napolitano said she regrets that the Canadian media only seem to hear her earlier misstatement — and she wants to move on.” - What kind of apology is that? She ‘regrets’ that they covered what she said?!
314. Obama’s Broken NAFTA Promise - 4/24/9 New York Times: “(US Trade Representative Ron Kirk says) The administration has no present plans to reopen negotiations on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) to add labor and environmental protections, as President Obama vowed to do during his campaign…a politically popular position in some electorally important Midwestern states that have lost thousands of manufacturing jobs.” UPDATE 10/12/9: Even Huffers and Puffers at Huffington Post are upset about this broken promise!
315. Obama Breaks Promise to Armenians - 4/24/9 C-BS News (C for Couric, the rest is BS): “‘President Barack Obama…refrained from branding the massacre of an estimated 1.5 million Armenians in Turkey a “genocide,” breaking a campaign promise while contending his views about the 20th century slaughter had not changed.’…”Today’s statement does not reflect the change the president promised,” said Bryan Ardouny, executive director of the Armenian Assembly of America. He said Obama “has needlessly delayed the cause of genocide affirmation and diminishes U.S. credibility with regard to genocide prevention.”
316. The Promise Obama Never Intended to Keep! - 4/25/9 Reviewing his 1st 100 days, AP & MSNBC report: “Barack Obama swept into office with a lofty promise to bridge the capital’s fierce partisan divide…While preaching bipartisanship and civility in his first months, Obama also has shown a willingness to push his priorities through Congress over Republican opposition, as with the $787 billion economic stimulus plan. The White House also has engaged at times in the divisive politics Obama himself has condemned, for instance mocking commentator Rush Limbaugh as the GOP’s titular head…”Old habits are hard to break,” the new president acknowledged in February.”
317. Obama’s “You pay for what you spend” Lie - 4/25/9 Obama wants new budgeting rules that call for no new programs unless the funding is there, and for all tax cuts to be “paid for” (repeating the stupid lie that tax cuts have to be paid for)…The funniest part is that, of course, he doesn’t want the new rules in place until AFTER his $4-Trillion budget is approved! Fox says while he claims to want things paid for before they begin, the truth is something different: “While the budget does set a roadmap for achieving the president’s goals, it says nothing about how to pay for his health plan, expected to cost more than $1 trillion over the next 10 years. And while the deficit, under the plan, would drop to $523 billion in 2014, it achieves it with unrealistic assumptions, such as projections that spending in Iraq and Afghanistan will amount to only $50 billion a year.”

Obama sides with Turkey over France & Germany - 4/26/9 - New York Post: “Turkey tried to block the appointment of Anders Fogh Rasmussen as new NATO secretary general because he didn’t properly punish the Danish cartoonist who caricatured Mohammed. France’s Nicolas Sarkozy and Germany’s Angela Merkel were outraged; Obama said he supported Turkey’s induction into the European Union.”
319. Obama Leadership By Fear - 4/26/9 - We have written about the failed method of leadership by fear here, here, here, here, here, here, and Andrea Tantaros talked about it here, and here. Today, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough writes in the New York Post that Obama made a mistake promoting fear: “(Obama) promised to usher in a transformational age where hope would replace fear…The same politician who proclaimed during his inauguration that ‘on this day we have chosen hope over fear’ soon warned Americans that the US economy would be forever destroyed if the stimulus bill was voted down…The White House’s warnings were so over-the-top that Bill Clinton felt compelled to warn the new president against making such grim pronouncements.”
320. Obama’s Broken Unemployment Promise - 4/26/9 -Glenn Beck: “Ten days before his inauguration, the President’s chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, Christina Rohmer, released a report describing what to expect economically during the first 100 days and beyond. It presented two starkly different scenarios: one good (if the stimulus were to be passed), and one terrifyingly bad (if we did nothing). Amazingly, the report estimated that if the stimulus package were to pass, the unemployment rate would not go above 8% at any time until at least 2014. It’s already at 8.5%.
321. Obama Really wants to talk to Iran - 4/26/9 - Obama is willing to make concessions to Iran so talks can start. New York Post: “Obama is considering dropping a key demand to Iran, allowing it to keep nuclear facilities open during negotiations.”
322. Obama Threatens Citigroup CEO - 4/26/9 - After his illegal firing of the GM CEO, which the President had no authority to do (but no one questioned him on it), Obama has a new threat. The NY Post reports he is “Threatening to fire Vikram Pandit as CEO of Citigroup.”
323. Obama & The Swine Flu Outbreak 4/27/9 While President Obama was out golfing (imagine what the press would have said if a republican president had done that!), Homeland Security Chieftess Janet Napolitano said the USA is ready to handle the Swine Flu outbreak. The news conference went to her by default because the President has yet to appoint a reasonable person to serve as Health & Human Services Secretary. Three months in to his term, 19 key positions remain open at HHS as the nation prepares for what some fear could be a pandemic.

324. Obama Appointment Scandal #49 - John Holdren - 4/27/9 In reviewing Obama’s 1st 100 days, Peter Roff at Fox News adds three more appointees that need to be on our list! First: “There are plenty of secondary appointments, not all of which are subject to the Senate’s advice and consent, which make up the new administration’s gallery of liberal rogues. White House Science Advisor Dr. John P. Holdren is a noted alarmist where the idea of global catastrophes is concerned. In 1971, he predicted that “some form of eco-catastrophe, if not thermonuclear war, seems almost certain to overtake us before the end of the century.” That same year Holdren also claimed that “population control, the redirection of technology, the transition from open to closed resource cycles, the equitable distribution of opportunity, and the ingredients of prosperity must all be accomplished if there is to be a future worth living.” More recently, in 2006, Holdren suggested that global sea levels could rise by 13 feet by the end of this century. The 2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fourth Assessment Report suggests a potential sea level rise of just 13 inches.” UPDATE 7/23/9: People still are talking about what a nut job Holdren is!UPDATE 8/1/9: CNS News: “It is by now abundantly clear that the GNP cannot grow forever. Why should it?” Holdren asked in a 1977 college science textbook he co-wrote with Paul R. Ehrlich and Anne H. Ehrlich, titled “Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment.” “Why should we not strive for zero economic growth (ZEG) as well as zero population growth?” The pertinent chapter, “Changing American Institutions,” discusses what the authors perceived as problems in America’s social mores, government, and economic system, which they say makes it “the leader in humanity’s reckless exploitation of Earth.” The United States, they argued, should focus on limiting the amount of physical product produced and in circulation.” UPDATE 9/18/9: After being named to our “Obama’s Most Unwanted List,” Holder also gets the ‘honor’ of being named to Sean Hannity’s “The President’s Top 10″ list. Holder has suggested methods of population control that Hannity pointed out such as sterilization capsules implanted in youth and spiking drinking water to prevent pregnancy! Hannity says, “So much for the right to choose!”

325. Rosa Brooks Compares Bush to Hitler! - 4/27/9 Peter Roff at Fox News reports on another extreme lefty in a position of high authority: “Then there is Rosa Brooks, who has been tapped to be a key adviser to the undersecretary of defense for policy. A former columnist with The Los Angeles Times, Brooks once compared the work product of Bush’s Office of Legal Counsel to “the so-called Big Lie theory of political propaganda, articulated most infamously by Adolf Hitler.” In 2007, according to various sources, she characterized Al Qaeda as “little more than an obscure group of extremist thugs, well financed and intermittently lethal but relatively limited in their global and regional political pull.” And she once wrote “George W. Bush and Dick Cheney shouldn’t be treated like criminals who deserve punishment. They should be treated like psychotics who need treatment…. Because they’ve clearly gone mad.” Roff notes: “Hardly the calm, rational and reasoned approach one has every right to expect from a senior Pentagon adviser.”

Obama Official Causes Evacuations in New York!- 4/27/9 The Politco: “Moving to fend off outrage from New York officials, the White House military director apologized for flying Air Force One and an accompanying fighter jet low near Ground Zero as part of a photo shoot Monday. President Barack Obama was not aboard when the huge 747 Air Force jet buzzed across Lower Manhattan, prompting evacuations, 911 calls and frightful memories of the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he had not been informed of the flight and was “furious” over the incident.”UPDATE 5/5/9 CBS News: The photos of Air Force One’s low flyover of Manhattan will not be released.

Obama Gives Away Chrysler & Threatens Banks! - “To Insanity & Beyond!”!- 4/28/9 - As we reported, the President is trying to give away a 55% ownership of Chrysler to the UAW and let the union inmates run the asylum! Your tax dollars kept Chrysler alive. That asset, if it has any value at all, is yours and mine as taxpayers. Since when does the President have the authority to reach a deal to give away a $4-billion asset? And he’s giving it to a division of his own political party, the union. He has not only gone to the extremist infinity, but beyond it as well! The Obama File adds this: “Obama, ignoring laws that assign priority to secured creditors, has tried to bully lenders into abandoning their legal rights in favor of the UAW. To my knowledge, there is no precedent for this sort of arrogant lawlessness in American history. (Germany, Italy and Argentina are familiar with it.) Now, bankruptcy lawyer Thomas Lauria tells WJR Radio: “Let me tell you it’s no fun standing on this side of the fence opposing the President of the United States. In fact, let me just say, people have asked me who I represent. That’s a moving target. I can tell you for sure that I represent one less investor today than I represented yesterday. One of my clients was directly threatened by the White House and in essence compelled to withdraw its opposition to the deal under the threat that the full force of the White House Press Corps would destroy its reputation if it continued to fight. That’s how hard it is to stand on this side of the fence.”
329. Obama’s Broken Promise to Wipe out Income Tax for Seniors Making less than $50,000 4/28/9 The Humble Libertarian: “Obama promised to eliminate income taxation for seniors making less than $50,000 a year. He has broken this promise despite numerous opportunities to keep it, including the economic stimulus package and his administration’s first budget proposal.”
330. Obama’s Broken Promise on Penalty Free IRA withdrawals 4/28/9 The Humble Libertarian: “Obama made it part of his agenda to “allow withdrawals of 15% up to $10,000 from retirement accounts without penalty (although subject to the normal taxes). This would apply to withdrawals in 2008 (including retroactively) and 2009,” but didn’t include this measure in the stimulus package or his budget proposal.”
331. Obama’s Broken Promise on College Tuition Credits 4/28/9 The Humble Libertarian: “Obama promised a $4000 tax credit for college tuition, but backpedaled when he signed a much smaller $2,500 college tax credit into law.”
332. Obama Repeats Clinton Mistake!- 4/29/9 - Newsmax: “When Iranian government official Ahmad Samavati arrived in Washington, D.C., in February at the head of a five-man negotiating team, he thought he had an offer the Obama administration couldn’t refuse. The Iranian regime was going to turn over scores of top al-Qaida operatives, including some on the FBI’s “Most Wanted Terrorists” list. To Samavati’s surprise, the State Department officials he met declined the offer. “They told him they did not want any al-Qaida people. They told him they didn’t want them in the United States,” an Iranian source familiar with the negotiations told Newsmax…In the annual report on terrorism it released last April, the State Department blasted Iran for its unwillingness to cooperate in arresting, rendering, or controlling al-Qaida members operating from its territory.”
333. Obama Taking Ownership of GM!- 4/29/9 - After rewarding his UAW pals with ownership of Chrysler, Obama is rewarding himself by taking ownership of GM! Fox News says the GM restructuring plan “Fuels Fear of Nationalization.” Fear of it?! It’s here if this goes through! From Fox: “If the government takes a majority stake in General Motors, will it end up taking the wheel, too? Under a restructuring plan put forth this week by GM, the ailing automaker would give majority ownership to the federal government to stave off bankruptcy. That handoff would amount to an extraordinary partial nationalization of the maker of Buicks, Cadillacs and Chevys that has been an independent company since 1908. The Obama administration has said it isn’t interested in running an auto company, but with that big of a stake, some analysts say the government would probably be tempted to push its own policies on such issues as alternative fuel vehicles and unions. And that could affect the types of cars that roll off GM’s assembly lines. “The fear here is that a company owned by the government would move toward the do-good results, not the bottom line,” said Gerald Meyers, a University of Michigan business professor and former CEO of American Motors Corp. GM’s proposal would give the government more than 50 percent of the automaker’s stock in exchange for forgiving $10 billion in government loans.
334. Obama 100th Day Lie # 1 Says He Doesn’t Want to Run Banks!- 4/29/9 “I don’t want to run banks. I’ve got two wars I’ve got to run already. I’ve got more than enough to do,” Fox quoted him as saying. He doesn’t want to run the banks? You have got to be kidding. If that were true, he’d let them pay back the bailout money. However, that would mean he would not be able to control these private banks. Controlling the banks is precisely what he wants to do!
335. Obama 100th Day Lie # 2 Says He Doesn’t Want to Run Auto Companies!- 4/29/9 Fox News: “”I don’t want to run auto companies…So the sooner we can get out of that business, the better off we’re going to be. We are in unique circumstances.” Again, a huge lie! So he takes over GM (even though the federal government only owned 35%) and fired the CEO, said his team would create the new GM business plan, then gave away Chrysler to his democrat pals at the UAW, and now is taking ownership of GM…and at the same time he has the audacity to claim he does not want to run the car makers?
336. Obama 100th Day Lie # 3 Says He’s Not a Big Government Guy!- 4/29/9 Again from Fox: “He said he’s “amused” by charges that he wants to grow government. “I want to disabuse people of this notion that somehow we enjoy meddling in the private sector,” Obama said.” He’s amused?! Yeah, he’s amused that he can say such stupid things even though his actions speak so much louder than his lying words!!! He is quadrupling the deficit and is increasing the size of the federal government more than any other president ever has! He’s right…he’s not a big government guy…he’s a HUGE government guy!
337. Napolitano Goofs Again!- 4/29/9 - From KOA Radio: “before a Senate panel, beleagured Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano retracted her startling statement that all Customs and Border Protection personnel were doing along the border to detect persons with the near-pandemic swine flu mutation was “passive surveillance.” She stated on this day that her earlier description is “not an accurate picture of what is going on” along our border with Mexico, thus adding another embarrassing chapter to her scandalous tenure.”
338. VP Joe Biden as Fearmonger!- 4/30/9 Team Obama is using Leadership by Fear again. This time Fox calls him a Fearmonger after he did a TV interview about the swine flu and said he wouldn’t get in any confined space with anyone right now! He urged people not to fly, get on a bus or even take a train. He sounded like Dr. Suess!

339. Surprise! You have to give back part of Obama’s Tiny Tax Cut!- 4/30/9 Gosh, they “forgot” to tell us this little fact! Associated Press writer Stephen Ohlemacher writes for Yahoo Finance: “Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama’s “Making Work Pay” tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring. The government is going to want some of that money back. The tax credit is supposed to provide up to $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples as part of the massive economic recovery package enacted in February. Most workers started receiving the credit through small increases in their paychecks in the past month. But new tax withholding tables issued by the IRS could cause millions of taxpayers to get hundreds of dollars more than they are entitled to under the credit, money that will have to be repaid at tax time. At-risk taxpayers include a broad swath of the public: married couples in which both spouses work; workers with more than one job; retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from their pension payments and Social Security recipients with jobs that provide taxable income. The Internal Revenue Service acknowledges problems with the withholding tables but has done little to warn average taxpayers.
340. Obama’s Job Creation Claim is a Stretch!- 4/30/9 Fox quotes Obama: “We began by passing a Recovery Act that has already saved or created over 150,000 jobs.” THE FACTS: This assertion is dubious on several levels. For starters, the U.S. has lost more than 1.2 million jobs since Obama took office, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even if Obama’s stimulus bill saved or created as many jobs as he says, that number is dwarfed by the number of recent job losses. But Obama’s number is murky, at best. The White House has not yet announced how it intends to count jobs created by the stimulus bill. Obama’s number is based on a job-counting formula that his economists have developed but have not made public. Until that formula is announced…there’s no way to assess its accuracy. Whatever the formula, economists who study job creation say it will require some creative math. That’s because Obama has lumped “jobs saved” in with “jobs created.” Even economists for organizations that stand to benefit from the stimulus concede it probably is impossible to estimate saved jobs because that would require calculating a hypothetical: how many people would have lost their jobs without the stimulus.” UPDATE 5/27/9: Obama repeats the claim at a California fundraiser. Texas Rep. John Culberson called the stimulus package “a fiscal flop and nothing to celebrate,” and he said that since the bill was signed Feb. 17, “1.597 million jobs have been lost and unemployment numbers at their highest levels in two decades.” UPDATE 6/6/9: ABCDEmocrat News: “The truth is, even the Obama administration isn’t able to say for sure how many jobs the stimulus is saving and/or creating. No one is able to even say how many of the projects approved by the administration have even begun, because “it’s such a moving target,” Jared Bernstein, Biden’s top economic adviser, said…With its promises to “save or create” 3.5 million new jobs, the Obama White House has set a fuzzy bar for itself; no one will ever really be able to say whether it’s been cleared. Even with the stimulus on the books, unemployment rose last month, and is likely to continue to rise in the coming months, according to the administration; the argument Bernstein and the economic team make is that job losses would be worse without the stimulus. The problem, as Republicans are eager to point out, is that it’s really not possible to measure a “saved” job.
341. Michelle’s Steppin’ Out Blunder!- 5/1/9 Michelle Obama did a nice thing today. She went to help feed the poor at a Washington D.C. food bank. The problem? She wore a $540 pair of sneakers! Fox reports: “The sneakers, which come in denim and satin, are a favorite of comic Ellen DeGeneres and rapper Kanye West — and they’re “certainly not a reflection of the poor economy,” said FOX News’ Noelle Watters, host of iMag Style.”
342. Obama’s Flip Flops are Solar-System Wide! Latest flip on Sending Man back to the Moon May, 2009 - Politico: “Early in his presidential campaign, Obama had great reservations about the costs and risks of human space flight. He said he would delay NASA’s plans to send humans to the moon and, eventually, Mars and, instead, spend that money on education. But, as Florida, Ohio and Texas became more politically important, Obama began to walk back his proposed NASA cuts, promising to fund unmanned space exploration and some other scientific missions. Now that he’s in office, Obama’s reversal is complete: The White House budget, released earlier this month, provides a healthy increase in NASA funding and explicitly endorses the “goal of returning Americans to the moon and exploring other destinations.”

Obama Appointment Scandal #50 - Ronald Sims- 5/2/9 - Washington Examiner: “President Barack Obama has settled on a train-wreck of a nominee for Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)…The Senate, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee approved Ronald Sims in a voice vote. They did so despite having credible information indicating financial mismanagement and ethical transgressions, including two egregious abuses of a state freedom of information law. Sims has been King County Executive in Washington state since 1996. Under his watch, local government was fined after it failed to produce documents concerning construction of the Qwest sports stadium. The Supreme Court of Washington, in a blistering ruling on the case issued this past January, said officials illegally withheld documents from requestor Armen Yousoufian. “The unchallenged findings of fact demonstrate King County repeatedly deceived and misinformed Yousoufian for years.” UPDATE 9/18/9: Sims missed the cut to be included in Sean Hannity’s TV special, “The President’s Top Ten.” However, he is included in our “Obama’s Most Unwanted List!” posted prior to Sean’s show.
344. Obama’s Deficit Smoke & Mirrors Game-5/3/9 The president continues to blame Bush as he did in Missouri recently: “Number one, we inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit….That wasn’t me.” But Fox News reports the President is leaving out most of the story: “Congress, under Democratic control in 2007 and 2008, held the purse strings that led to the deficit Obama inherited.” Obama was a Senator at the time. Fox: “Bush, had a role too: He signed the legislation. Obama supported the emergency financial bailout package in Bush’s final months — a package Democratic leaders wanted to make bigger…The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget has estimated Obama’s policy proposals would add a net $428 billion to the deficit over four years, even accounting for his spending reduction goals. Now, the deficit is nearly quadrupling to $1.75 trillion.”

Obama’s Tax Evasion Hypocrisy-5/4/9 Obama tells the press: “The way to make American businesses competitive is not to let some citizens and businesses dodge their responsibility, while ordinary Americans pick up the slack. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what we’re doing.” He is right that this is exactly what HE is doing and HIS administration is doing. Why does the President let people like Tim the Tax Cheat Geithner dodge the responsibility? Why does Obama let ordinary Americans pick up the slack? Of course the Hypocrite-in-Chief wasn’t talking about his own friends who are tax evaders or the seven nominees for top posts he picked who are dodging their responsibilities! This one’s a blood boiler.
346. Obama Proposes Increasing Double Tax on Business- 5/4/9 - And how will this help CREATE jobs?? Obama wants to increase taxes on businesses during a time of recession and very high unemployment! The President wants to increase the double taxes we already charge US companies that make money overseas. “The United States is the only major industrialized country which double taxes the overseas earnings of our companies. Since other countries don’t subject their companies to double taxation, U.S. companies need deferral to stay competitive in the global marketplace,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s chief economist, Marty Regalia, told Fox News. Even democrats like Senator Max Baucus say “more study is needed” on this one.

348. Obama 5th of the 4th Gaffe- 5/4/9 - CNN reports the President, in celebrating Cinco de Mayo (5th of May) a day early at the White House called the celebration the “Cinco de Quatro.” The 5th of the 4th?? The President said they like to do things early in “The Obama White House.”
349. Obama Flip Flop on New York Fly Over Pictures- First on 5/5/9 CBS News reports: The photos of Air Force One’s low flyover of Manhattan will not be released. Then on 5/6/9 Fox News reports: The White House plans to soon release a photo from the controversial Air Force One-style flyover of Manhattan last week, despite claiming earlier that there was no need to release any official images from the incident.
350. Obama’s No Prayer Day of Prayer- 5/6/9 National Days of Prayer are of little use to communists and, apparently, to the President of the United States. Mr. Obama cancelled the traditional White House observance of the special day and plans no public appearances related to the Day of prayer. Fox reports: “We are disappointed in the lack of participation by the Obama administration,” Shirley Dobson, chairwoman of the National Day of Prayer Committee, said in a statement. “At this time in our country’s history, we would hope our president would recognize more fully the importance of prayer.” ABCDEmocrat News’ David Wright earlier noted Obama “has not been to church since he took office — 11 Sundays!” He finally went on Easter.
