McCain not courting Conservatives
By Peter Andrew
John McCain’s speech last night was exactly what Rush Limbaugh said he shouldn’t do. He dove in right in the center and swam to the left trying to win over a pool of democrats and RINO’s. I felt a zing in my side when he said “I don’t work for any political party.” Ouch. That’s real nice. You’re at the party’s national convention, accepting the party’s nomination, spending the party’s money and you have no allegiance to the party? I was getting close to realizing I would have to pull the lever for you on election day (really I would be pulling it for Sarah Palin), but that speech last night did nothing for Conservative American’s like me.
It should be no surprise coming from McCain. He has always tried to stake his future on the first idiot media guy or gal who tagged him a Maverick. He liked it. He bought it. He became it.
I just wish he hadn’t gone so far in trying to court the libs and the wishy-washy people in the center, the so-called “populists.” The media has already decided that is going to be the buzz word for McCain-Palin, Populists. Yuck. It does nothing for me. Conservatives don’t want a “win in the middle” candidate or one who works so hard to court democrat-socialists, but seemingly could care less about courting us. I was not thrilled with his speech.
