Telegraph says Palin Still a Player

The London Telegraph says both good and bad news prove that Sarah Palin is a formidable player in US politics. The opinion piece by Tim Shipman clearly demonstrates his dislike for Palin and fascination with the fact she is well received here. He slams her for the fact she is pro-life and slams her for the fact her daughter’s future (maybe) someday mother-in-law was arrested for a drug-related issue.
Still, he mentions that even bloggers who hated Palin during the election are admitting she is far more qualified than Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg. From Shipman:
“It is that which gives her the potential to go far. For most feminists, Mrs Palin was never their sort of woman, (a beauty queen, no less) who refused to abort her Down Syndrome son and then hailed Bristol’s “choice” to keep her baby, a choice Mrs Palin would like to deny to women who might want to abort. They took her principles for stupidity. But she is clearly bright and, when she talks about what she knows, fluent and engaging—though she could slice cucumbers with that accent. Given a bit of schooling (and there will be no shortage of conservatives willing to hitch themselves to her star) she could be formidable.”
You can clearly read the disgust he has for a pro-life woman. His arrogant position that she needs “a bit of schooling” is out of line as well. He even says she “refused” (a very odd choice of words…unless of course you disagree with Palin and want to make that crystal clear to your readers) to abort Trig Palin. He won’t even call the child by his name.
He does recognize the difference between good, strong conservative principles and what the liberals thought was just stupidity. You can say that much for him, but not much more. He sounds like a coastal liberal too pompous to see why her views are widely accepted, needed and loved.
