FedEx & UPS are “Doin’ Fine?!”

Leading the way Right

Yesterday, President Obama said “UPS and FedEx are doin’ fine.” They are? That’s probably not what investors in UPS and FedEx would say! It’s not what UPS is saying either!

UPS stock remains down substantially from its pre-recession highs. From Bloomberg.com:

July 23 (Bloomberg) — United Parcel Service Inc., the world’s largest package-delivery company, forecast lower profit than analysts projected and said second-quarter earnings fell 49 percent as the recession cuts business demand. UPS said profit for the three months through September will be 45 to 55 cents a share, less than the 60-cent average of 16 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Second-quarter net income declined to $445 million, or 44 cents a share, the Atlanta-based company said today.

FedEx has won an award for leading the way in so-called “Green Energy” purchases and is building one of the largest solar-panel installations in the nation. Despite this Obama-friendly behavior, FedEx stock also has suffered during the recession.

While this may detract from his amazing Post Office Blunder (Scandal dated 8/11/9 on the Official Obama Administration Scandals List...where he said while FedEx and UPS are “doin’ fine,…it’s the Post Office that’s always havin’ problems”…so now he wants to run healthcare???) , it is yet another instance of Obama saying things that are not true.

But you can’t blame Obama. After all, he was just making up the facts when he didn’t have them.
