Eight soldiers died in one attack …the deadliest attack of the Obama Presidency. From the headlines today…
Hundreds of insurgents armed with automatic rifles and rocket-propelled grenades stormed a pair of remote outposts near the Pakistan border, killing eight U.S. soldiers and capturing more than 20 Afghan security troops in the deadliest assault against U.S. forces in more than a year, military officials said Sunday.
UPDATE 10/7/9: We now have the names of the eight soldiers who gave their lives for freedom in this incident:
The Department of Defense announced today the death of eight soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Oct. 3 in Kamdesh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their contingency outpost with small arms, rocket-propelled grenade and indirect fires. They were assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.Killed were:
Staff Sgt. Vernon W. Martin, 25 of Savannah, Ga.
Sgt. Justin T. Gallegos, 27, of Tucson, Ariz.
Sgt. Joshua M. Hardt, 24, of Applegate, Calif.
Sgt. Joshua J. Kirk, 30, of South Portland, Maine.
Sgt. Michael P. Scusa, 22, of Villas, N.J.
Spc. Christopher T. Griffin, 24, of Kincheloe, Mich.
Spc. Stephan L. Mace, 21, of Lovettsville, Va.
Pfc. Kevin C. Thomson, 22, of Reno, Nev.

However, the names of five other soldiers recently killed in action have just been added this afternoon. That takes the number of soldiers killed since President Obama took office up to 317. Once the eight soldiers are added, the controversial Obama Death Count (read the article to see why we keep this count…it may surprise you) will be 325.
While President Obama has finally met with his top general in Afghanistan, he has yet to make a decision on the request for more troops. Each day he delays, costs the lives of more soldiers. CNS News reported Friday that 43 had died since General McChrystal requested additional troops. You can add 13 to that number now…56 have died since the request arrived.
He is the Commander in Chief. He won the election (someone should tell him he can stop campaigning now) and the responsibility that comes with it. It’s time to quit pushing a massive government takeover of health care and protect the lives of the brave young men and women at his command!
He needs to decide if he is going to give his military the full and complete support they need to WIN in Afghanistan. We should do that. We should come home with a VICTORY regardless of the fact the President doesn’t like that word! But, it is not my decision. It is his. He is our President and needs to act like it. If his intention is to give them only part of the generals want, or none of what they want, then he needs to get the troops out as soon as possible.
Where are all the lefty anti-war protests? Why aren’t liberals demanding he get out now? Where are the calls for his “exit strategy?”
Mr. President, with all due respect, get off your TV shows and health care campaign and do you freakin’ job! Not one thing on your agenda is this important. Get the information you need today. Make your decision today.
