Obama’s Deficit Deception
CBS reporter Chip Reed dared to ask the President how his budget plan, which reportedly would create a $9.3-Trillion deficit in ten years, fits in with his promise not to pass on problems to the next generation. President Obama repeated his claim that he’ll be cutting the deficit in half within five years.
Here’s the huge catch he never points out: If he cuts his new Super-Sized “fries with that” deficit in half (and we said IF), the deficit still will be more than it ever has been before! People hear him chant that he’ll cut it in half and they think, “Hey, that sounds good. I like him.” It only sounds good until you realize his hollow promise to cut it in half still leaves you with all the grease and fat from those extra french fries you really didn’t need to order. There’s no value in the meal Obama is serving this nation. However, if he gets his way we’ll all be so depressed that (as singer Katy Perry would say) we’ll need a happy meal.
First President Obama, responding to CBS, pointed out that he inherited a $1.3-trillion dollar deficit from republicans. It’s not his fault! Or is it? It took President Bush 8 years to double the deficit. President Obama doubled it with a single pen stroke when he signed his huge Deficit Stimulus Plan into law. Obama even tossed out tonight that if he doesn’t get his trillions for education, healthcare, and green energy, then there will be no growth at all in the economy and it will be harder to reduce the deficit.
We’ve been Leading the way Right on this story. From our February 27th post, entitled “Super-sizing Government:”
“There may not be much hope of stopping Obama from telling the press and the people one thing, and doing the exact opposite. The Official Obama Administration Scandals List grows almost daily with lies, tricks, ethical voids and more. We [conservatives] had no impact on what we called the “Obama Deficit Stimulus Plan.” The AP has come around to our way of thinking now that it is too late. They ran a story today [Feb 27th] saying the Obama budget creates “deficts dwarfing any in our nation’s history.” Remember that when he keeps promising to cut it in half. Even if he does that, the deficit still will be far greater than the giant Bush-sized deficit ever was. Obama has become the President of Hollow Words. The only thing more empty than his words is his suit.”
Man, we are good! You have got to stop in here all the time if you want to be Leading the way Right as well. It’s so fun when the “big guys” copy us. And copy they should. Conservative Americans should be copied!
Then, on March 1st we pointed out that the hypocritical democrats no longer care about the deficit:
“…conservative Americans stand for things. When beliefs are founded on principles, they don’t change on a whim, or with the election of a new leader. With liberals, beliefs are founded on the desire for power. They do change on a whim and vary greatly depending on who is in the White House. This time they have elected their hero. Obama can say one thing and do the opposite better than any of them. Deficits are no longer a concern. The Associated Press reports President “Obama is not simply proposing a budget that assumes a jaw-dropping deficit of $1.75 trillion this year, a quadruple increase from the year before. He’s trying to redirect strong currents in American society.” AP reports Obama wants the proposals done “largely in concert, as an interrelated plan to undo major elements of President Ronald Reagan’s conservative movement.” This is yet another instance of blazing hypocrisy on fire in front of Charles Hubris Gibson and others in the mainstream media. It’s odd how they not only don’t see the fire, they can’t even feel its heat. Hey Charlie, why don’t you ask Orszag why deficits are no longer important?”
In Mrs. Peter Orszag’s own words, here’s how he feels about deficits…and remember, this is Oama’s budget guy:
“Fiscal policy in the United States is on an unsustainable path…deficits are likely to grow much larger as health and retirement costs mount for the baby boom generation…at best, these deficits will gradually harm the future income of Americans. At worst, they could trigger a fiscal crisis which could accelerate and possibly exacerbate the damage.”
- Peter Orszag, Obama Budget Chief & Senior Fellow at the liberal Brookings Institution
We’re also the only ones reporting that this is Orszag’s view on deficits. Or, at least it WAS his view. CBS’s Reed pushed the President a bit tonight, basically asking what about years 6, 7, 8 and 9 of his budget when the deficits keep going up, up, up. The president said “we’ll make new budgets by then,” and basically not to worry about it since it is so far away!!
