Obama Uses Soldier’s Remains

President Barack Obama today takes a terrible step at the expense of a grieving family.

The Commander in Chief has reversed the 18-year-old tradition of keeping the arrival home of the remains of deceased soldiers a private matter.  Obama allows cameras now.  Families are given a choice of whether to admit the news media to ceremonies at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, the entry point to the United States for the caskets of overseas war dead.

The Obama-approved camera’s roll tonight (Official Scandals List Page 4) as the remains of Staff Sgt. Phillip A. Myers, 30, of Hopewell, Virginia arrive back in the United States.  Obama has said that he wants Americans to see “the full cost of war.”

We’re not stupid, Mr. President.  We know the full cost of war involves the death of brave fighting men and women.  We don’t need to gawk at a family’s personal pain to help your political gain.

The President is only doing this to drum up support from the anti-war crowd he has alienated since being sworn in.  He needs people caught up in the real emotions they’ll now see daily on TV in order to leave Iraq and Afghanistan without victory.  You’ll never hear President Obama talk about winning the war in Iraq or Afghanistan.  You won’t hear him talking about victory in Afghanistan or Iraq.  He just wants to be able to get out and he’ll need people upset (again…seems to be a trend for him) so they don’t focus on the fact we leave without victory.

And even that is bullogna.  Obama said he will “end the war” and “bring our troops home.”  However, he’s going to leave a huge fighting force behind in Iraq breaking his promise to bring everyone home.  Just as we still have troops in Germany, we’ll have soldiers in Iraq for many years to come.

I’m all for free press and for showing that war is hell.  However, I think those images should push this nation to take bold military steps to win soundly and quickly.  We need to crush our enemies with decisive forceWe need to kill them and blow up their things.  That is how we should deal with the troubled emotions of realizing that thousands of soldiers have already died in these wars.

Images like the ones Obama plans to exploit starting tonight should not make us cower on the couch and reach for the remote, hoping only that we get out soon.  That’s a wimpy response from a democrat President who just got done telling the Europeans Americans are arrogant!

The Department of Defense reports the death of Myers as an American hero.  He is a person loved by his family and friends.  He is not just some “image” to be used for the gain of the nation’s first socialist president.

Myers was an airman who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  We don’t need pictures of his casket to let you know he died serving our great nation.  He will be missed.  He will be remembered.  He is the 66th soldier to die under the new Commander in Chief.  Sgt. Myers died April 4th near Helmand province, Afghanistan.  He died of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device left b4ehind by terrorist-supporting murderers.  He was assigned to the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron of the Royal Air Force of Lakenheath in the United Kingdom.
