WSJ Agrees with Us!

Yesterday, in our “Obama to Iran: Please Leave a Message” article, we suggested the 3:00 A.M. phone call was coming in from Iran and that President Obama didn’t even pick up the phone. The Wall Street Journal today agrees with us. From the Journal’s piece entitled, “Obama’s Iran Abdication:”

The Iranian rebellion, though too soon to call a revolution, is turning out to be that 3 a.m. phone call for Mr. Obama. As a French President shows up the American on moral clarity, Hillary Clinton’s point about his inexperience and instincts in a crisis is turning out to be prescient.

Our point exactly, though we had a bit more fun of it. From our piece:

The phone rings at 3:00 A.M. in the White House. It’s a desperate call from the rebels fighting for freedom and liberty in Iran. They want to know if they can count on the U.S.A. for support in their effort to kick out terrorist Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (I’m-a-nutta-job). Ring. Rings again. Third Ring. “C’mon, c’mon…where are they?” the caller wonders. Then someone picks up and relief settles in. Unfortunately it doesn’t last long. “You’ve reached the White House. Your call is extremely important to us. We both agree, and disagree with your position strongly. Please leave your name, number and a brief message after the beep and we’ll get back to you only if we feel it will serve our own political interests and 2012 re-election efforts. Thank you very much for calling. The caller hangs up without bothering to leave a message. There’s no point.

We have also written about how the President has missed the chance to stand up for Freedom and Liberty here. His initial silence on Iran, and now that he is speaking, his failure to use the right words is sending a clear message. The WSJ also agrees with us on that position:

Less than a fortnight ago, in Cairo, Mr. Obama touted his commitment to “governments that reflect the will of the people.” Now the President who likes to say that “words matter” refuses to utter a word of support to Iran’s people. By that measure, the U.S. should never have supported Soviet dissidents because it would have interfered with nuclear arms control.

In our earlier story, “Iran: Where’s Obama?” we put it this way…

It would probably be nice for them to hear that they have the support of the freedom and liberty lovers here in the United States. However, so far President Obama has said nothing to encourage them. We used to stand for Freedom and Liberty and support it around the world. The Obama Administration’s silence today, after his recent “Hug-an-Islamist Tour,” is deafening. They are getting your message, Mr. President. Loud and Clear. Freedom fighters…you are on your own.

It’s nice to be in good company with the Wall Street Journal. It’s also nice for ConservativeAmerican.org to be Leading the way Right.
