ObamaCare May Head to Conference Committee
If the ObamaCare Nightmare gets the 60 votes democrats say they now have, the President will claim success. As we pointed out on November 22nd,…
“If it gets to the point, the socialist-democrats will either have to let it fail, get 60 votes to approve it, or use the so-called “nuclear option” of political games to allow it to pass with only 51 votes. We hope it doesn’t get to that point. If it does, President Obama will run to the nearest microphone, set up the teleprompters and claim success.
The 60 votes have NOT been cast yet though. Fox News says republicans are still fighting:
“This bill is a monstrosity,” Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said. “This is not renaming the post office. Make no mistake — this bill will reshape our nation and our lives.” He and other Republicans lambasted the bill for Medicare cuts that the Congressional Budget Office said totaled more than $470 billion over a decade, and what McConnell called “massive tax increases” at a time when unemployment is at 10 percent. Speaking on “Fox News Sunday,” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said his party probably can’t prevent its passage in the Senate, but said he and his colleagues would fight the bill all the same. “What we can do is continue winning the battle of American public opinion,” he said. “We’ll fight the good fight. We will fight until the last vote.”
Fox also reports the The CBO said the Senate bill would extend coverage to more than 30 million Americans who lack it. President Obama used to claim there were 46-million without insurance. He made the claim repeatedly. From the Scandals List…
“How many Uninsured are There? Obama Loses 16-million People! 9/9/9 – From the AP:“OBAMA: “There are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage.”THE FACTS: Obama time and again has referred to the number of uninsured as 46 million, a figure based on year-old Census data. The new number is based on an analysis by the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, which concluded that about two-thirds of Americans without insurance are poor or near poor. “These individuals are less likely to be offered employer-sponsored coverage or to be able to afford to purchase their own coverage,” the report said. By using the new figure, Obama avoids criticism that he is including individuals, particularly healthy young people, who choose not to obtain health insurance.” — So I guess there are millions without health insurance, give or take,…I dunno,…say 16-MILLION PEOPLE!!!”
If the Senate bill gets the 60 votes it needs, it’s still not over yet!
Shortly after the vote, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid will appoint members to a “Conference Committee” to work on a compromise bill developed from the components of the House bill and the Senate bill. They can’t add things to the end result bill that were not in one of the bills they are working with. They can take things out.
The meetings are supposed to be public. President Obama promised they will be on C-Span. However, most of the real work will be done in private. If it gets to a conference committee, the socialist-democrats will come up with a bill.
At that point, the new ObamaCare Nightmare bill must go back to the House and Senate and be approved by both without changes. That is by no means a done deal. However, if it does pass both, the nation’s first socialist President will sign it into law and we can kiss our money, our health care and our freedom good bye.
