No Republican Opposition?
A great deal will hinge on who the GOP picks as its new national party chair on January 31st. Somehow, the current chair has the word out that Barack Obama is not to be opposed. While saying they have no power to prevent Obama from doing anything anyway (and therefore might as well not waste time being the opposition party), at the same time they don’t fight at all when the media (even FOX news this morning) continues the nonsense that Obama has to convince republicans to do this or that. The dems can do what they want without a single republican vote. Obama doesn’t need them for anything. When you hear the media say “republicans are blocking the way” or “he must convince republicans,” understand it is solid BS. What they truthfully should report is that he can’t get enough members of his own party to go along with him and needs a few republicans to cross over. That underscores the lousy leadership of Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid.
An example today with the confirmation hearing of Eric Holder to be Obama’s Attorney General. From Fox News (we inserted the word “terrorists” in black type):
“Republican Sen. Arlen Specter turned the questioning briefly toward the 2001 pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich. Holder, who was the No. 2 official at the Justice Department at the time, told the White House that he was neutral, leaning toward favoring the pardon. On Thursday, Holder repeated an apology, saying he regrets not studying the pardon more. But Holder said he learned from the mistake and would be a better attorney general because of the experience. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., later questioned Holder about his role in President Clinton’s decision to grant clemency to Puerto Rican separatists [terrorists] involved in the deadly 1982 bombing of a Manhattan federal building. The 16 members of the Armed Forces of National Liberation served 19 years in prison before the clemency was awarded. Though human rights groups applauded the decision, lawmakers from both parties criticized the move. Holder said Thursday that it was a difficult decision for Clinton but described it as “reasonable,” contending that those released from prison did not carry out the violent acts. Former FBI officials have disputed that view.
No Republican has announced plans to oppose Holder’s nomination.”
No republican is opposing? So the guy helps let Marc Rich go and 16 terrorists and no one is opposing him? This is another poor judgement on Obama’s part. It’s another controversy over an appointee and another one for the Official Obama Administration Scandals list. I suppose they will let Susan Rice get through too. As an American, I hope Obama can make our country better, the same way I hope each one of us can do that. However, in his efforts to push us into liberalism and socialism, I will not support him or wish him well. In fact, I hope he fails miserably. Rush Limbaugh repeated today that he is no longer a republican. The party has abandoned conservative Americans.
There is a reason, a darn good one, that this site is not called Conservative Republican.
