Senate Democrats Vote to Kill 210,000 Americans!! 12/21/9 From the Rush Limbaugh Show: Democrat Harry Reid told the Senate today that one American dies every ten minutes due to lack of health care and that the federal government must fix that now….well, maybe not “now.” What democrats keep forgetting to point out is that the taxes in the ObamaCare Nightmare start right away, but the new reforms don’t start for another four years to help with the Obama 2012 campaign. That delay of four years, if Reid is right, will cost the lives of 210,000 Americans!
Obama Breaks Promise Not To Tax Americans Earning Less than $200,000 a Year! (AGAIN) 12/21/9 Former White House Spokeswoman Dana Perino pointed out of Fox & Friends this morning that no one is talking about how the ObamaCare Nightmare bill in the Senate also breaks Obama’s big promise to to raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 or couples making less than $250,000. There are billions and billions in new taxes in this nightmare bill and many of them apply to all taxpayers.UPDATE ADDED 12/27/9:Just A Conservative Girl points out, “With the release of Sen. Harry Reid’s Manager’s Amendment, the Senate healthcare bill now contains seven tax hikes on families making less than $250,000 per year. Each of the seven tax hikes are in violation of President Obama’s “firm pledge” not to raise “any form” of taxes on these families.”
Obama Helping the Same Insurance Companies He Tried to Vilify! 12/21/9 While President Obama spent much time painting insurance companies to be the bad guys in health reform, his ObamaCare Nightmare working its way through the U.S. Senate is a huge Christmas gift to those same companies! It requires all Americans to buy medical insurance…from Private Companies! So, he’s helping the same ones he calls “fat cats?”
Obama Administration Bribing Public Officials?? 12/21/9 The American Patriot Commission Blog: “Dingy Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Dear Leader have conspired, in an ongoing criminal enterprise, that crosses state lines, to bribe public officials (Senator Nelson to name one) and to usurp the Constitution of the united States of America. RICO is codified as Chapter 96 of Title 18 of the United States Code, 18 U.S.C. § 1961–19. Reid, Pelosi and Obama are guilty of violation of 18 U.S.C. § 201 : US Code – Section 201: Bribery of public officials and witnesses. They have used tax payer money to payoff Senators and Representatives to assist in the systematic destruction of America.” – ConservativeAmerican.org isn’t sure that laws were broken. However, it was odd to watch Harry Reid brag about having bought the votes of various politicians. Someone should investigate this to see if laws were broken. If they were, people should be prosecuted!

This is a horrible stab in the heartbeat of Free Market American Capitalism! This cannot be allowed to happen. Anyone who supports this plan must be voted out. Critics of President Obama are setting their sights this week on the official White House Christmas tree, which features controversial ornaments including an orb depicting the late Chinese dictator, another that shows drag queen Hedda Lettuce, and yet another that shows a picture of Mount Rushmore — with Obama’s head pasted to the side of Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt’s. God rest ye, merry gentlemen.” – Not a surprise from the most Radical President ever! He wants his head on Mount Rushmore?! *Gag!* They love Mao at the Obama White House! Remember Anita Dunn?! UPDATE 12/26/9: The LA Times says this is no big deal because the artwork of Mao was making fun of the communist dictator. They don’t bother to explain the drag queen. UPDATE 12/28/9: The LA Times continues to make fun of this one, saying it’s no controversy. Now they say one of the ornaments had Ronald Reagan on it.
Obama Skips Church on Christmas Eve! 12/24/9 while the Time magazine’s headline says “No Churchgoing Christmas for the First Family,” the mag seems more concerned about the Obama’s making it to Hawaii for Christmas! From Time: “The Senate vote on final passage of health reform almost scuttled their plans, but it looks like the First Family will still make it to Hawaii for Christmas. They’ve had a whirlwind holiday season so far, starting with the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, through hosting more than 50,000 people for 27 parties and open houses, and ending with a visit by the First Lady, Malia and Sasha, and the family’s dog Bo, to deliver cookies to the Children’s National Medical Center. The Obamas have also started their own holiday traditions in their new home, adding a Christmas wishing tree to the decorations festooning the White House. But there’s one common Christmas practice not on the First Family’s schedule: a visit to Christmas Eve church services. Church, in fact, has been a surprisingly tough issue for the Obamas. They resigned their membership with Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in 2008 after Obama renounced the church’s controversial former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. And while the First Family intended to find a local church to attend when they moved to Washington, concerns about crowds and displacing regular worshippers has prevented them from finding a new religious home during their first year here. Obama’s Christmas Eve “Taxpayer Massacre!” 12/24/9 After the New Year, the Wall Street Journal reported on what really happened Christmas Eve in Washington, D.C. calling it a “Taxpayer Massacre!” From the WSJ: “the Treasury’s Christmas Eve taxpayer massacre lifting the $400 billion cap on potential losses for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as well as the limits on what the failed companies can borrow. The Treasury is hoping no one notices, and no wonder. Taxpayers are continuing to buy senior preferred stock in the two firms to cover their growing losses—a combined $111 billion so far. When Treasury first bailed them out in September 2008, Congress put a $200 billion limit ($100 billion each) on federal assistance. Last year, the Treasury raised the potential commitment to $400 billion. Now the limit on taxpayer exposure is, well, who knows?…The White House budget office still doesn’t fully account for Fannie and Freddie’s spending as federal outlays, though Washington controls the companies. Nor does it include as part of the national debt the $5 trillion in mortgages—half the market—that the companies either own or guarantee. The companies have become Washington’s ultimate off-balance-sheet vehicles, the political equivalent of Citigroup’s SIVs, that are being used to subsidize and nationalize mortgage finance…After December 31, Team Obama would have needed the consent of Congress to raise the taxpayer exposure beyond $400 billion. By law, negative net worth at the companies forces them into “receivership,” which means they have to be wound down. Unlimited bailouts will now allow the Treasury to keep them in conservatorship, which means they can help to conserve the Democratic majority in Congress by increasing their role in housing finance. “
Obama’s Executive Pay Hypocrisy at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac! 12/24/9 After the New Year, the Wall Street Journal reported on what really happened Christmas Eve in Washington, D.C. calling it a “Taxpayer Massacre!” From the WSJ: “after presiding over a combined $24 billion in losses last quarter, Fannie CEO Michael Williams and Freddie boss Ed Haldeman are getting substantial raises. Each is now eligible for up to $6 million annually. Freddie also has one of the world’s highest-paid human resources executives. Paul George’s total compensation can run up to $2.7 million. It must require a rare set of skills to spot executives capable of losing billions of dollars. Where is Treasury’s pay czar when we actually need him? You guessed it, Fannie and Freddie are exempt from the rules applied to the TARP banks. The government gave away the game that these firms are no longer in the business of making profits when it announced that the CEOs will be paid entirely in cash, though it is discouraging that practice at other big banks. Who would want stock in the Department of Housing and Urban Development?”
Reid & Obama Are Using Double Entry Lie Accounting on Health Reform Claims! 12/26/9 Ace of Spades reports, “Of course our “deficit hawk” president will veto this bill if it gets to his desk in this condition, right? …To describe the full amount of HI trust fund savings as both improving the government’s ability to pay future Medicare benefits and financing new spending outside of Medicare would essentially double-count a large share of those savings and thus overstate the improvement in the government’s fiscal position. That’s CYA bureaucrat speak for “These fools are playing you like a Steinway suckers!” An even simpler two word translation: “they lie”.

Obama’s Broken Promise to Reign in Lobbyists 12/26/9 My Kids Deserve Better reports Obama has failed to do any “reforming” when it comes to lobbyists and how things are done in Washington, D.C.: “K Street lobbyists are raking in the cash with Barack Obama and the D.C. liberals running the show. According to Politico, lobbyists will shatter last years record $3.3 billion in fees to lobby Congress and the Obama Administration. Considering that Obama campaigned on reigining in lobbying efforts, this is just one more broken campaign promise in a record shattering year for broken campaign promises, corruption, irresponsible binge spending and dishonesty that went into over drive three years ago. Is this the change you had hoped for?
Obama’s “Biggest” Broken Campaign Promise 12/26/9 The Seminal at the liberal FireDogLake website and AlterPolitics.com report, “Obama’s biggest campaign promise, as Digby reminded us all, was that he would not be beholden to special interest groups — the ones who always manage to thwart all efforts of meaningful reform (as Obama eloquently described above). And, yet, before the health care initiative was even launched, Obama essentially smothered ‘Change’ in its crib, by doing EXACTLY what he said he wouldn’t — he struck backdoor deals with the entrenched interest groups. And the President now pretends that he fought hard — though we all saw he didn’t. In fact, not only was he MIA — refusing to outline any priorities for a health care reform bill — his own White House was undermining his campaign promises at every turn, insisting they weren’t essential for Obama’s signature. He now pretends the opposition was just too fierce, too dug in — though we’ve heard from the Senators themselves that he never once pressured anyone on the public option. And now Obama appears frustrated; frustrated that the Left won’t give him HIS due victory, and applaud him for this bill — this trillion dollar wealth redistribution from the middle class to special interests.” – And that’s what his lefty pals think of him!
Obama’s Broken Public Option Promise 12/26/9 The Left is unhappy Obama caved on his promise not to sign a bill without the public option. From liberal website FireDogLake: “Barack Obama told the Washington Post that he never campaigned on the public option. I recently provided resounding proof — as aggregated by Think Progress — and also included a new scathing ad being run by The Progressive Change Campaign Committee SHOWING Obama telling his supporters that he would only sign a plan that contained a public option. Obama had in fact made the public option a major part of his health care reform promise during his campaign. Anyone who supported him knows this, and so his lying about it is only going to polarize him even further from his base — or should I say, whatever remains of it.” Ouch. These people are ticked off!

From Fox News: “Two strange bedfellows have asked Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate President Obama’s right-hand man, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, for his potential role in the near collapse of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The letter by Jane Hamsher, founder of the liberal Firedoglake Web site, and Grover Norquist, Americans for Tax Reform Chief, was sent Wednesday, one day before the Treasury Department announced that it will lift the $400 billion financial cap on loans to the government-sponsored enterprises to make sure they stay afloat. It also arrived just before the Federal Housing Financial Authority announced Thursday that it would place salary caps on 11 of the companies’ top executives. Hamsher and Norquist want to know now whether the bailout was in part the result of corrupt practices by Emanuel while he was a board member at Freddie in 2000-2001.”
Napolitano Says The System Worked with the Man Who Tried to Bomb a Flight to Detroit! 12/28/9 – The Cypress Times: “Maybe Secretary Napolitano meant to say that the system didn’t work before it worked. Actually, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano who changed the term “terrorism” to “man-caused” disaster shortly after taking office this year said yesterday on CNN that “the system worked”. She added, “there is no suggestion that the suspect was improperly screened”. Apparently aside from the fact that he got on board a plane with powerful explosives on his person. This morning on the Today Show, Napolitano said, “Our system did not work in this instance. No one is happy or satisfied with that.” Which is it?…maybe, in the interest of the truth, Napolitano should have said “We blew it”, because the Obama Administration has blown it on terrorism since they took office. First and foremost by appointing Napolitano as Secretary of Homeland Security. “

Obama Calls Terrorist “Alleged,” and an “Isolated Extremist!” 12/29/9 From the Obama File: “Obama’s reference to the “alleged” Crotch-Bomber as an “isolated extremist,” and Napolitano saying there was “no indication” that the attack was “part of anything larger,” seems to be Obama’s default setting when faced with terrorism. He said as much about the Nov. 5 Fort Hood massacre, even though the FBI had previously monitored communications between shooter Nidal Hasan and Anwar al-Awlaki, the radical imam and al Qaeda commander born in New Mexico and believed to be in Yemen. The Crotch-Bomber also reportedly is one of al-Awlaki’s followers and said he was one of many bombers trained by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula who will seek to attack the United States. Other evidence pointing to a larger plot includes a report that the Crotch-Bomber had an accomplice in Amsterdam, the sophistication of the bomb design, and al Qaeda’s admission that it was behind the attempt.” The Obama File is an excellent site. Obama Administration Fails to Fill Key Anti-Terror Positions 12/29/9 Fox News: “Two federal agencies charged with keeping potential terrorists off airplanes and out of the country have been without their top leaders for nearly a year. It took the Obama administration more than eight months to nominate anyone to lead the Transportation Security Administration and the Customs and Border Protection agency. The attempted Christmas Day terrorist attack on a Detroit-bound airliner has prompted a review of U.S. security policies. The acting heads of those agencies — both created in response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks — will be at the forefront of these discussions.”

Obama Disagrees with His Own Homeland Security Chieftess! 12/29/9 In Obama’s second attempt to address the public about the Christmas Day Terror Attack (since his first attempt was such a miserable failure), the President took issue with Janet Napolitano’s statement that “the system worked.” AP reports Obama said, “systemic failure” in security allowed the attempted Christmas Day attack on a Northwest Airlines flight. Mr. Obama said information that could have prevented the would-be bomber from boarding the plane did not get the attention it deserved.” Obama still did not manage to find a tie or a razor. Those must be hiding under his golf clubs somewhere.
Obama Has Done Nothing To Make Us Safer Despite His Own Words! 12/30/9 In August of 2007, Senator Barack Obama declared, “We are no safer now than we were after 9/11.” He became president in January. Are we still “no safer?” What has he done since taking office to make us safer? Nothing. Yesterday he admitted there were both “human and systemic failures” that resulted in a Nigerian man boarding a plane bound for Detroit with explosives.
Obama Wants to Be Fair to Islamist Extremists?! 12/30/9 Peter Johnson, Jr. reported on Fox News this morning that Obama once indicated he wanted terrorists tried in civil, or criminal, courts rather than military tribunals to show the Muslim world we are a fair people! The fatal flaw in the Obama logic is that having them view us as Fair Great Satans is no different than having us be viewed as Unfair Great Satans! Republican Congressman Pete King is demanding Obama put Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on trial in a military court, not a civilian court. With Obama’s desire to deny that we’re really in a war on terror at all (he has only used the word “terror” a handful of times in the last year), he has no interest in responding to Representative King. Meanwhile, the lefty Think Progress(ives) website is upset with Dick Cheney for saying Obama is, “trying to pretend we are not at war.”
Obama Breaks Earmark Promise Big Time in Defense Bill! 12/30/9 Michael Ehline reports: “Lawmakers set aside more than $4 billion in earmarks in the just-approved 2010 defense appropriations bill, and watered down efforts to curb the practice of targeting spending for programs in members’ districts…the earmarks in the defense-spending bill could point to a longer-term clash between lawmakers and Mr. Obama, who campaigned on a pledge of changing the way Congress allocates earmarks. Mr. Obama has said that earmarks can be a waste of government funds and wants more public information about how they are awarded by Congress.” From FloppingAces.Net OBAMA) “If a project doesn’t support our troops, we will not fund it. If a system doesn’t perform, we will terminate it. And if Congress sends me a defense bill loaded with that kind of pork, I will veto it” -President Obama, Aug 17, 2009, VFW speech.
Obama Appointment Scandal # 90 – Jide Zeitlin 12/30/9 From Josh Rogin at The Cable: “Jide Zeitlin, the Obama administration’s nominee to be America’s point man for financial reform at the United Nations, has withdrawn himself from consideration for the job, an administration official tells The Cable. Zeitlin, a former Goldman Sachs executive and telecom entrepreneur, had faced criticism for his business dealings related to Indian contractors and was also accused of identity fraud for an incident in which he admitted to sending an email to investors masked as coming from one of his competitors. Zeitlin testified before Congress that the email was a prank.” The Cable says Zeitlin may also have had a problem with a woman claiming she was lured into a romantic relationship with him.

Obama Administration May Have Violated Executive Order 12/31/9 The Weekly Standard: “Did the Obama administration, by releasing Qais and Laith Qazali and more than 100 members of the Iranian-backed Asaib al Haq, violate an executive order put in place by President Ronald Reagan to prevent negotiations with hostage takers? Senators Jeff Sessions and Jon Kyl asked that very question to the Obama administration in a letter sent to the president in July…According to a congressional staffer, the Obama administration has yet to answer the letter.”

From Paul Smalera at True/Slant: “Remember last year when candidate Obama’s team put a mocked up presidential seal on his podium at an event, causing an uproar? The seal combined elements of the Presidential Seal with the distinct visual cues of Obama’s campaign graphics and fonts. Critics called it a sign of hubris, arrogance, and entitlement. (This was in June 2008, when the presidential race was far from decided.) It was pulled after one speech, never to be used again. Well, someone at barackobama.com didn’t get the memo. A few weeks ago I pulled this screenshot from the site, showing a new seal–this time a weird version of the Great Seal of the United States mashed up with the Presidential Seal–the one that says “e pluribus unum” on it. You can only see it for a split second–as the website is loading…Which begs the question, why have it there at all?” Smalera is no conservative. In fact he says in the same post, “I’m not a teaparty, birther nutjob. In fact I’ve defended Obama policies several times in my posts on this site and my other writing.” So this one, like many items on our list, comes from the left. ConservativeAmerican.org notes Obama also made up a seal for the ficticious “Office of the President-Elect.”
Did Obama Break a Promise to Ban Permanent Replacements for Striking Workers? 1/1/10 – The Oakland Press reported in November of 2008, that “Obama also is calling for new legislation banning the use of permanent replacements for striking workers. A ban on replacement workers would be as, or if not more, controversial than card check because it would effectively neutralize most employers’ ability to block potentially crippling strikes…Card check and striker replacement legislation are basically efforts by the AFL-CIO and other unions to punish employers for abusing the existing system.” Some AFL-CIO workers feel Obama has broken this promise. One wrote, “In an attempt to make us forget about NAFTA and the broken promise of an anti-strike replacement workers bill, the Democrats brought in a smooth talker and promise of the Employee Free Choice Act.”

Obama’s Customs Staff Changes Story on Christmas Terror Attack! 1/2/10 MLive reports, “A spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection now says that a man who was handcuffed and questioned by authorities on Christmas Day was a passenger on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 — just days after saying that person arrived to Detroit aboard a different flight. In an email to The Detroit News Thursday night, Customs spokesman Ron Smith acknowledged that a person from Flight 253 was handcuffed after search dogs found something in his carry-on bag. Smith said the email — which was also sent to attorneys Lori and Kurt Haskell — was based on new information he had received. The passenger was not arrested or detained, and was allowed to leave Detroit Metro Airport with the rest of the Flight 253 passengers, according to WWJ. The News said nothing was found in the man’s bag. The Haskells and at least two other Flight 253 passengers said they saw a man being handcuffed and taken away by authorities.” U.S. Customs & Border Protection staff initially denied the claims.
Obama’s Broken Promise to the Alex Hermstad Family- 1/2/10 Recent reports at ExposeObama.com, and Western Journalism speak of a Pilot-Tribune story by Editor Dana Larsen. “Every politician will tell you they will be there when you are desperate for help…But who will keep that promise when a crisis comes? Apparently not the…Democratic candidate for the presidency, according to a Storm Lake family facing a critical, undiagnosed illness of a teenager daughter. “It has been one long frustration,” said Lori Hermstad, who has watched her previously healthy, athletic 15-year-old daughter Alexandria – Alex – slowly lose all movement of her body since 2005, in a mysterious illness that doctors have been unable to explain. After exhausting all other avenues for help in trying to gain the attention of medical experts,…shortly before the Iowa Caucuses, she started to appeal to various presidential candidates. Only one, Barack Obama, responded at all. The Hermstads were encouraged, and invited Obama to visit their home while he was in town to campaign at Storm Lake High School…”And when Obama came in he was smiling and shook my hand and gave me a hug and said that he was coming to see Alex after all – that they just hadn’t been able to tell us because of security reasons,” Lori said. Obama talked to Alex for a few moments, and had his picture taken with her. He was kind to her twin sister Jaci, and listened to Lori’s concerns. He said he would like to be our liaison with the federal government.” Lori had previously spoken with John Edwards, who never took any action on their behalf. “After that kind of letdown, finally, with Obama, it was the first time that it seemed that someone had heard us,” Lori said.She tried to share the story of Obama’s visit to Alex with the media, but no one in the metropolitan media would do it, she said. The family tried to be patient, realizing that Obama would be tied up with campaign events during the caucus season, but finally, Lori started calling his staff. “Okay, when is Senator Obama going to start helping?” she asked. No one would follow through on the promises. Lori asked the Obama campaign to use his pull to get her story on the Oprah Winfrey show…They even drove to Chicago to try to get into the studio to meet with Oprah’s people. They could not get access, but Obama’s staff said they had five people working on it and that they would call the Hermstads back within 30 minutes. “Five hours later we were still standing there, and they never did call back. Here we were in winter weather standing outside these locked doors. It really takes away your dignity…” Lori said. “I realize now that the Obama people…thought that Alex would die over the summer and the issue would go away,” the Storm Lake mother said. All she really wanted from Obama, she says, is a phone call. “We needed to get through to doctors who might be able to give us some answers. I don’t think it was a lot to ask. Experts with The National Center for Public Policy Research are decrying this practice as a distraction from important counterterrorism duties. They further question if it a possible avenue to renew climate change subterfuge already plaguing some of these scientists. “This is another example of President Obama not taking terrorism seriously,” said Deneen Borelli, a fellow with the National Center’s Project 21 black leadership network. “Our enemies must be laughing at the Obama Administration’s incompetence.” A January 5 article in the New York Times reported that the White House restarted a program in which scientists are obtaining classified intelligence data from the Central Intelligence Agency and National Reconnaissance Office. Information from these secret government surveillance programs is being used to track climate change. A similar program was discontinued by the Bush Administration in 2001. The department said his potential ties to terrorists came up in a routine check of passengers en route to the United States. The Los Angeles Times, which first reported the development, wrote that security officials “learned” of the link while he was in the air. But the administration official said “no new information” emerged when the plane was in the air. Rather, the official said customs officials followed normal procedure in checking incoming passengers’ names against the massive terror database of more than a half-million names. That’s where the suspect’s name showed up. “They were going to ask him a few additional questions after he landed before allowing him admission into the country,” the official said.” – ConservativeAmerican.org asks if the routine check while he was in the air turned up the information that authorities needed to question this guy when the plane landed, then the LA Times is correct in stating they learned of that link while Umar (Rush today called him the “Fruit of the Kaboom Bomber!”) was in the air. (AIG) to withhold details from the public about the bailed-out insurer’s payments to banks during the depths of the financial crisis, e-mails between the company and its regulator show. AIG said in a draft of a regulatory filing that the insurer paid banks, which included Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Societe Generale SA, 100 cents on the dollar for credit-default swaps they bought from the firm. The New York Fed crossed out the reference, according to the e-mails, and AIG excluded the language when the filing was made public on Dec. 24, 2008. A (Las Vegas) Review-Journal poll Saturday “showed just one in three Nevadans approving of his job performance — his lowest rating yet. That Reid speaks frankly and often makes gaffes is well known. But the insensitive remarks on race are new terrain for the Democratic leader who is seen as a longtime champion of civil rights, and not a racist. “I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words,” Reid said in a statement. “I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African-Americans, for my improper comments.” (Obama said in a statement:) “Harry Reid called me today and apologized for an unfortunate comment reported today. We’re still losing jobs, and we absolutely have to go from losing any jobs at all to adding them at a robust rate.” Romer wouldn’t predict what the unemployment rate will be in the fall, when members of Congress face re-election, but said it is “still a very realistic estimate” that job growth could begin in the spring.” Were’nt we promised 4-million new jobs from Obama in his first year?

You mean the democrats would actually pay down debt with this money instead of spending it all over again? Not sure I’m buying that!

In other words, if the project is being funded with stimulus dollars – even if the person worked at that company or organization before and will work the same place afterwards – that’s a stimulus job…Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, wrote to the chair of the Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board Earl Devaney saying that “the new guidance counts every jobs that is funded using stimulus money – even if it existed before the Recovery Act, and was not in any danger of being eliminated – as ‘created or saved.’ This definition ignores the plain meanings of the words ‘created’ and ‘saved’ and makes Recovery.gov’s ‘JOBS CREATED/SAVED’ label a falsehood, further eroding the confidence of the American people in their government.”

He is the basis for the argument that the Senate bill reduces families’ risk–even if it remains totally unaffordable. Even Politico stenographer Mike Allen points to Gruber’s research….don’t you think it’s rather, um, dubious that the guy evaluating the heath care reform–for $300,000–is also the package’s single biggest champion? And no one has been transparent about this contract? Update: Actually, Gruber failed to disclose his $392,600 contracts with HSS. The reference to ongoing work in the bigger, second one refers to a $95,000 contract he had from March 25, 2009 to July 25, 2009.”

Obama’s Scandalous Marriage Taxes Hidden in ObamaCare Nightmare! 1/15/10 – InsuranceNewsNet details the punishment team Obama plans to give couples who get married! “In addition to unconstitutional measures, unfair individual mandates, higher taxes, penalties for lifesaving medical devices and a potentially devastating rationing of care, Obamacare also contains several penalties on couples for getting married. Those penalties make government the enemy of both good romance and good finance. The first sort of marriage penalties affects low- and middle-income couples who would get their insurance without employer assistance but with government subsidies. The penalties accrue through the “caps” on premiums. In the House plan, an unmarried couple living together with each earning $25,000 would pay no more than $3,076 in combined premiums each year. If the same couple got married, their annual cap would skyrocket to $5,160 – a 68 percent punishment just for saying “I do.” (The penalty in the Senate bill is slightly lower, at 48 percent.) What is even worse is that the subsidies are suddenly and completely cut off once somebody reaches 400 percent of the official poverty-level income ($63,360 in 2016). The arithmetic is complicated, but what it means is that two unmarried persons earning $32,000 each ($64,000 total) would pay a maximum combined $5,684 in premiums, but if they got married, they would pay about $15,000. That is an astonishing penalty of 164 percent. It is almost impossible to imagine a policy that could be any more anti-family than that. “ – Unbelievable.
