It’s been almost a year since we told you about a controversial Catholic-bashing appointment President Barack Obama had made. His name is Harry Knox. He’s openly gay, hopelessly liberal and full of hate for Roman Catholics and the Pope. He also apparently passed all the vetting process to be named to… wait for it… the President’s Committee on Faith!!!
Conservative American congressman Mike Pence is joining us in calling for Obama to rid himself of this little wart.
“Obama’s Latest Attack on Catholics (& Appointment Scandal #43) Harry Knox - 4/9/9 Catholics are already ticked off Obama has forced them to pay taxes to fund abortions in other countries & that he plans to speak at Catholic Notre Dame. Now, Obama spits on Catholics & appoints a Pope-Hating, Gay, Liberal to a committee on…faith! Knox, a director at the Rights for Gay Humans Campaign in D.C., blasted bishops for pushing to make same-sex marriage unconstitutional (Prop. 8 in CA), called the Knights of Columbus “foot soldiers of a discredited army of oppression,” and said bishops and Pope Benedict are “discredited leaders.” Fox Reports Catholic League President William Donahue knows Knox is not simply a critic; “He’s insulting. He used disdainful, disparaging terms to talk about the pope and the Catholic hierarchy. If someone were appointed using that language about homosexuals, he would be thrown out.” Amen to that. Amen.”
Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) says that it is “long overdue” for President Barack Obama to fire Harry Knox from the White House Advisory Council for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships because of the “vehement anti-Catholic statements” Knox has made. “Harry Knox’s repeated, intolerant statements about the Catholic Church and Catholic teachings make it totally inappropriate for him to serve on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships,” Pence told CNSNews.com in an interview Friday. “Harry Knox’s termination from the president’s Faith-Based Advisory Council is long-over due. And we would renew our call for Harry Knox to be removed from that position by the president.”
Pence says its absurd for a person who has made such hateful comments about a specific religion to remain an adviser to the President on matters of Faith. Yes, it is. Unless, of course, the President agrees with him.
When CNSNews.com asked Knox on Feb. 2 whether he still stands by an assertion he made in March 2009 that Pope Benedict XVI was “hurting people in the name of Jesus” because he does not condoning condom distribution as the solution to AIDS in Africa, Knox said: “I do.”

Presumed 2012 Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin writes on her Facebook page this afternoon that it’s time for Americans to stand up for the Navy SEALS. From her Facebook…
“First the Obama Administration opened up the possibility of prosecuting CIA interrogators doing their jobs seeking information from terrorists. Then they tried to go after the Bush Administration lawyers who acted in good faith to protect us in the months after 9/11. Now some of the military brass are court-martialing three brave Navy SEALs for allegedly throwing a single punch at Iraqi terrorist leader Ahmed Hashim Abed. This is wrong. The Washington Times got it right: Save the SEALs.
These brave warriors belong in combat, not in the courthouse. They captured the most wanted terrorist in Iraq. We may never know how many other heroic missions they undertook on behalf of our country. He wants to put CIA agents on trial while giving Terrorists Miranda rights, he wants to push socialist health care while ignoring a request for more troops. In the Obama Galaxy, everything is upside down and backwards. He and his administration are so against the grain of this nation, it is astounding he was elected. He could put an end to this scandal with one phone call. So, why doesn’t he?
In the upside world that Commander Obama is in charge of, the bad guy terrorists get criminal trials with all the rights of U.S. citizens and the good guy Navy SEALs who capture them get to…GO TO JAIL?!!! These guys caught the man responsible for capturing, killing and burning the bodies of several Americans. He then hung the burned bodies from a bridge and got it on video for the whole world to see. A bloody lip seems mild.”

Leading the way Right, we reported on February 18th that the faux Obama “bi-partisan” Deficit Commission is a joke. The commission’s findings (supposedly after months of study) are already known and the group’s only real purpose is to give Obama someone else to blame for the huge tax increases coming your way!
News is out today that the Obamanator has named his ACORN Board Member pal, SEIU President Andy Stern-O to serve on the deficit commission. He’ll supposedly help the group reach its foregone conclusion! Soooooo, ACORN is on the President’s Deficit Commission!!!
Now, the Fox Business network and the Wall Street Journal agree with us about the outcome.
John Fund from the Wall Street Journal was a guest on Fox over the weekend and Stuart Varney from Fox Business joined the Fox & Friends show today. Both men agree with us that the commission is a smoke-screen. Varney finds it a bit humorous that the deadline for the commission is December 1st… conveniently right AFTER the November elections! Wouldn’t want to have to answer questions before the election about why you’ll be passing huge new tax increases!
“Among the commission’s biggest problems; we already know their conclusion, and they are wrong on both counts!
The commission gives Obama cover to do absolutely nothing about the deficit while he awaits the secret findings of the blue ribbon beer summit commission. He already knows the two points they will make…
1. Reduce spending, and
2. Increase taxes.
As for reducing spending, on the surface Conservative Americans agree with this half of the findings. However, the reductions suggested will be meaningless in comparison to the size of the federal budget and the Obama-sizing Deficit. They’ll suggest eliminating this republican idea or that one, and they forge ahead with phony “cuts” that merely reduce the size of scheduled increases (but still allow agencies to increase spending each year…thus, there is NO REAL cut at all).
How about sizeable cuts to failed liberal programs? How about eliminating entire departments and agencies? The world would not end without a federal department of education. Each state already has its own. It may be something they want in Washington, but it is not needed nor is it affordable. Get the government out of the car business. Get the government out of the mortgage business by eliminating any funding, backing or subsidies for Fannie Mae, Tammy Faye, or Freddie Mac. Get the government out of the mail and package delivery business. Keep funding strong for our national defense while getting rid of the national endowment for the arts and other programs that give grants out to non-essential things. You could go on and on. The government has been Obama-sized and it will take time to undo this man’s mess.
As for the commission’s second finding, that we increase everyone’s taxes, it is factually and historically wrong. Democrat John F. Kennedy and Republicans Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush cut taxes and saw an increase in federal revenue. That’s because the reduction in the tax burden allows for economic growth. More people with jobs. More people paying taxes. Enough more paying taxes at a lower rate that MORE money comes in to Uncle Sam, not less. Raising taxes will crush the economy and that seems to be the Obama by-design plan anyway.
This makes the entire Obama Deficit Commission an utterly stupid waste of time and nothing more than a political gimmick designed to create a 15-second sound bite that shows Americans Obama is (*gag*) doing something about the deficit. Nevermind the fact, he Obama-sized the deficit! The Associated Press reported Obama has quadrupled the deficit! Despite his constant lies that he inherited a deficit of $1.3-Trillion (which the media just accepts and repeats through its repeating stations), the defecit was never even $1-Trillion until after Barack Obama became president.
It’s more deliberate deception from President Obama.”
“If they are not going to rule out a tax increase and not deal with discretionary spending, and wait until after the election to give their report, what’s the point?” Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., the number three ranking Republican in the House told Newsmax.

CEO Ed Whitacre will receive a salary of $1.7 million this year, plus stock awards that will bring his total pay package to $9 million at a later date… In a surprise announcement, GM also said former CEO Fritz Henderson has been rehired as a consultant. Henderson, who was forced out of the job in December, will work 20 hours a month and will be paid $59,090 a month, the company said.” — ConservativeAmerican.org’s calculator points out that’s $2,954.50 an hour Obama has agreed to pay Fritz Henderson. Most we already have on our list. Here’s a few to add: “…Depends on what the definition of a small business is. The President’s proposal defines this as any business with less than 50 employees. Any business with 51 or more employees which does not provide insurance will be required to pay a fee of $2,000 per worker if any of their employees receive subsidized coverage in the government insurance exchange (although the President’s proposal does except the first 20 employees from this calculation). In addition, any small business owner who earns more than $200,000 per year will be required to pay an additional .9% in payroll taxes for Medicare, and a brand new 2.9% tax on unearned income (interest, dividends, etc.).

I suppose it’s true insomuch as no one else has ever had the gall to spin the creation of a $2+ trillion entitlement program as a “tax cut”. Personally I think the fact that the President proposes to provide tax-payer funded subsidies to families earning up to $88,000 the most fiscally irresponsible aspect of the entire plan. Coming a close second is the fact that over half of the cost of these “tax cuts” will be funded from reductions in Medicare spending, when Medicare itself faces insolvency within the next 10 years. If the White House wants to tout these subsidies – funded largely at the expense of seniors – as a “tax cut”…then I say go for it. There is even one on duty in the Capitol building itself. President George W. Bush’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), launched in 2003, focused largely on treating patients in urgent need of medicine, but the new US administration’s programme has shifted away from emergency treatment. “George W. Bush is a hero in this country,” said Peter Mugyenyi, who heads Uganda’s Joint Clinical Research Centre, a leading AIDS treatment clinic… While PEPFAR expanded access to medicine, new HIV infections rose. Congressmen Say Obama Is Breaking Promise to Fix Fannie Mae, Tammy Faye & Freddie Mac 3/1/2010 From The Hill: “Republican Reps. Darrell Issa (Calif.) and Jim Jordan (Ohio) said it is “unacceptable” that the administration has not detailed how the companies (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) should be restructured… Issa and Jordan said the administration’s lack of a plan is a “broken promise” and the two members are calling for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to hold hearings into the firms. “It appears that the administration is using Fannie and Freddie as a backdoor conduit for appropriating billions of dollars of taxpayer money without the consent of Congress,” the members write in a letter dated March 1. “If that is true, the American people have a right to learn about it in a transparent public forum where those responsible for the policy can be held accountable.”
Obama Eliminates or Deletes 23,000 Jobs with Broken Space Promises 3/1/2010 Red State has this one, “…23,000 workers at and around Kennedy Space Center will lose their jobs because of the shuttles’ retirement and the new proposal to cancel the development of new rockets and spacecraft. That sum includes 9,000 “direct” space jobs and — conservatively speaking — 14,000 “indirect” jobs at hotels, restaurants, retail stores and others that depend on activity at the space center, said Lisa Rice, Brevard Workforce president… PS: You know, if we absolutely had to elect a Democrat President, it’s a darn shame that we didn’t at least elect the one who said… “We cannot cede our leadership in space. Obama Appointment Scandal # 147 - Goodwin Liu 3/4/2010 Shannon Bream at Fox News reports: “critics describe him as “brilliant,” but President Obama’s newly minted judicial nominee — law professor Goodwin Liu — will not have an easy time getting to the 9th Circuit bench… Liu has also aligned himself with progressive legal groups, including the American Constitution Society, where he is chairman of the board of directors. That’s prompting opponents to argue that Liu is “too far outside the mainstream” to take a seat on a court just one step below the Supreme Court of the United States. “He believes the Constitution is something judges can manipulate to have it say what they think culture or evolving standards of decency requires of it in a given day,” said the Senate Judiciary Committee’s top Republican Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. Liu opponents point to a number of his writings, including a book he co-authored in 2009 called “Keeping Faith with the Constitution,” in which the authors opine about their concept of judicial interpretation. “Applications of constitutional text and principles must be open to adaptation and change … as the conditions and norms of our society become ever more distant from those of the Founding generation.” That theme — that the Constitution’s text and principles must be adapted to changes in the world — repeats throughout the book and raises eyebrows among conservatives.”
Obama Administration Delays Offshore Drilling it Pretends to Support 3/5/2010 - Another case of words, just words. Steve Everly at Fox News: “Another day, another delay. The Department of Interior is on a bureaucratic quest to ignore the public and stop any development of American energy. The latest example is Interior Secretary Ken Salazar’s announcement this week that the next offshore drilling program will not begin until 2012. The decision, made without voter approval and against the wishes of a clear majority of Americans, upends the existing lease plan that was set to begin this year, a plan that was crafted directly in response to public outcry in 2008 over record high gas prices. Ironically, it was that very energy crisis that forced then-candidate Barack Obama’s hand in August 2008 when, as he campaigned tirelessly for the presidency, he declared support for offshore drilling.
Team Obama To Flip-Flop on its Flip-Flop, Flip-Flop (following that?) on Terrorists on Trial in the U.S. 3/5/2010 - The Obama administration sent out signals this week that it soon will overrule itself and change back to Bush Administration policy of trying terrorists in military tribunals instead of civilian court. Eric Holder got to take the bullet on this one for the President. Obama has claimed he was not in the loop when Holder’s decision to try them in New York courtrooms was announced, an obvious fabrication. The Washington Post says Obama will cave to pressure and flip-flop back to having the trials in military courts. Rush Limbaugh today said it might be part of a plan to get Lindsey Graham to support the closing of Club Gitmo. The bottom line is the public wins if the trials are conducted by the military and the progressive Socialists, who appear unconcerned about the War on Terror, lose.

Everything, that is, except a ban on federal funding for abortion. Last September, the president promised that “no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.” Yet the legislation most likely to move forward in Congress would be the single greatest expansion of abortion since the 1973 Roe v. Using an obscure clause in the Antiquities Act of 1906, the Department of the Interior under Ken Salazar would designate the land as “monuments” in order to block the use of the resources in those states. His recent piece in the U.K. Telegraph lists Obama’s Top 10 Insults Against Britain! Number one on his list? The silly statement that the Obama Administration will keep the U.S. “neutral” in the dispute between Britain and Argentina over the Falkland Islands: “For sheer offensiveness it’s hard to beat last week’s incredible statement from the State Department on the Falklands dispute, not least considering the fact that 255 British soldiers died retaking the islands from Argentina in 1982. Here it is: “We are aware not only of the current situation but also of the history, but our position remains one of neutrality. The US recognises de facto UK administration of the islands but takes no position on the sovereignty claims of either party.” As I (Gardiner) wrote previously, over the course of the last year, we’ve seen a staggering array of foreign policy follies by this administration, from the throwing under the bus of the Poles and the Czechs over missile defence to siding with Marxists in Honduras. ObamaCare NightMare Tour - Foolishly Still Blaming Republicans 3/8/2010 In Pennsylvania today, President Obama continued his foolish and transparent faux outrage at Republicans who he says are the ones preventing health care reform from passing. As everyone in America knows, Democrats controlled everything for an entire year and still have huge majorities in both the House and Senate. The Republicans have not had the power to stand in the way of anything. The truth, obviously, is that Democrats haven’t been able to agree with each other to get anything done. Rush Limbaugh today said Dems in the House are worried about voting for the Senate Health Care Bill. He says they don’t trust the dems in the Senate or the White House and they worry that no “fix” bills (designed to ‘fix’ problems House members have with the Senate bill as it is now) will ever actually happen! The problem, as you know Mr. President, is not a Republican one!
Obama’s Weatherization Stimulus Called “A Lie!” 3/8/2010 Rich Lowry writes at Real Clear Politics about the Obama magical weatherization plan “If you allocate money to weatherize homes,” Obama effused to an audience in Elkhart, Ind., “the homeowner gets the benefit of lower energy bills. You right away put people back to work, many of whom in the construction industry and in the housing industry are out of work right now.” And it’s a step to “a new energy future.” …Obama poured $5 billion into weatherization as part of last year’s stimulus and wanted to spend billions more… According to a Department of Energy inspector general report last month, “only 2 of the 10 highest funded recipients completed more than 2 percent of planned units.” New York had completed 280 out of 45,400 planned units as of December, Texas had completed 0 of 33,908, and California 12 out of 43,400. That’s 292 homes in three states with a total population of roughly 80 million. So much for the 87,000 jobs the administration promised “right away.”
Obama’s Savings Gaffe - Or Was He Stretching the Truth? 3/8/2010 Fox News: “President Obama, making his final push for health care reform, pitched his proposal Monday to a crowd in Pennsylvania with a deficit-reduction figure that the White House later admitted missed the mark. “Our cost-cutting measures mirror most of the proposals in the current Senate bill, which reduces most people’s premiums and brings down our deficit by up to $1 trillion dollars over the next decade because we’re spending our health care dollars more wisely,” Obama told an audience at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pa., a suburb north of Philadelphia. Obama was so proud of these cost-saving numbers in the latest version of health care reform, he delved into a bit of Washington-speak to back them up. “Those aren’t my numbers,” Obama said to the rising applause of the estimated 1,300 in attendance. “They are the savings determined by the Congressional Budget Office, which is the nonpartisan, independent referee of Congress for what things cost.” But the budget office did not say the Senate health care bill would save $1 trillion over the next decade — or even close to that figure. It estimated the bill would save $132 billion from 2010 to 2019, leaving Obama’s “next decade” estimate $868 billion short. When contacted about this disparity, a White House official said Obama meant to say the Senate bill would save $1 trillion in its second decade — a projection that would more closely match congressional analysts’ estimates.” -Rush Limbaugh pointed out the crowds for today’s events were hand-picked supporters, not a sampling of the public which is overwhelmingly against the ObamaCare Nightmare! I mean listen, what we have right now is the definition of a jobless recovery. Businesses are making money, GDP is improving, yet small businesses, I don’t mean the guy that mows your lawn, I’m talking about companies that employ between 200 and 2,000 people, those are the businesses that generally, out of a recession start hiring the most; they don’t want to hire… That gets to the scandal here. This is kind of a scandal. He promised us, Obama promised the American people, shovel ready jobs. Guess what, that money that was transferred to states, as part of the stimulus package, was suppose to go into these shovel ready jobs and it never happened. What they did was they hoarded the cash; they kept the paper pushers in Albany and California working and construction workers are out of work.”

Eric Cantor for the stack of paper he brought with him to the health summit, calling it the type of political stunt that gets in the way of lawmakers having a serious conversation. Cantor said he brought a copy of the 2,400-page Senate bill and the 11-page proposal Obama posted online earlier in the week. Taking offense at the display as Cantor began to speak Thursday, Obama said the “truth of the matter” is that health care is a very complicated subject. He said all the Republican ideas discussed during the first half of the daylong summit would generate a bunch of paper, too.”

U.S. District Court Judge Robert Chatigny gained notoriety in 2005 for his role in trying to fight the execution of convicted serial killer and rapist Michael Ross, also known as The Roadside Strangler, whom Chatigny had described as a victim of his own “sexual sadism.” His conduct in that case, which included threatening to go after Ross’ attorney’s law license, as well as his ruling in 2001 against sex offender registries created under Megan’s Law, has caused a commotion among Republicans on the judiciary panel. “I’ve never seen conduct like this,” said a Republican source. “I’m shocked that the White House vetted this guy … and still put him up for a judgeship.” The nomination is relatively fresh. This is because we had reported on the February 9th death of Adam J. Ray and had received a report of another death of a U.S. Soldier on the 9th. It now (2/17/2010) appears these two stories were, in fact, one and the same. That would make Adam J. Ray the 498th to die under Commander Obama and Adriana Alvarez the 499th. I regret the error and apologize for it.
Because the following three soldiers died in the same attack, it is not possible to single out one of them as having been the 500th death under President Barack H. Obama. It is fair to say, however, that these three were the 500th, 501st and 502nd deaths since President Obama was sworn in.

It would “use only one test when deciding what ideas to support with your precious tax dollars,” he said. “It’s not whether an idea is liberal or conservative, but whether it works.” But the past year has proven otherwise. Consider Head Start, a federal program aimed at helping low-income children prepare for school - and therefore learn more… it wasn’t until the late 1990s that Congress finally mandated a national evaluation of the program to measure its effectiveness. This month, the results were finally released: Former Head Start participants were no better off than their non-Head Start peers by the end of first grade. Using random assignment, the national evaluation tracked the progress of 3- and 4-year-olds entering Head Start through the first grade. Compared to similarly situated children, access to the program failed to raise the cognitive abilities of Head Start participants. Alarmingly, access to Head Start for the 3-year-old group had a harmful effect on the teacher-assessed math ability of these children once they entered kindergarten. In the opinion of teachers, similar children who were eligible for Head Start but denied access are more prepared in math skills than those children who participated in Head Start… His administration sat on the Head Start results while President Obama was approving unprecedented increases in federal spending on preschool programs, including Head Start… President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which included US$5 billion in additional funding for preschool. And in September, the House of Representatives approved a higher education bill, backed by President Obama, that authorizes US$8 billion for a new federal preschool program. At the same time, President Obama has let Congress kill the tiny D.C. Opportunity Scholarship program, which helps poor children attend private schools in the nation’s capital. As Congress was passing legislation to end the program, Education Secretary Arne Duncan’s Department was sitting on a similar federally mandated evaluation. When it was finally released (on a Friday afternoon in the spring), the report revealed that students receiving the scholarships had made significant academic progress compared to their peers who remained in public school.”

Such holds are often placed privately, making it exceedingly difficult for those outside the Senate to track their use, and they can be a powerful tool to influence the executive branch. The recent “hold” controversy surrounded Senator DeMint’s hold on the President’s nominee to head the TSA Erroll Southers. DeMint’s hold was justified based on his abuse of power when he was in the FBI, lying about it to the Senate, weak stance on terrorism, and his desire to unionize the agency… (February 3rd, Obama said:) “We’ve got a huge backlog of folks who are unanimously viewed as well qualified — nobody has a specific objection to them — but end up having a hold on them because of some completely unrelated piece of business.” …In 2005, a year after his election to the Senate, Obama placed a hold on Susan Bodine to lead the Environmental Protection Agency office that oversees Superfund and emergency cleanup programs because the agency had missed a deadline on new regulations for lead paint exposure. Wilkie’s nomination as a Defense Department assistant secretary over a long-delayed Pentagon report on Midwestern wind farms. That included not only tax increases, he added, but also spending on the popular government health programs, Medicare and Medicaid, whose fast-growing costs are driving the projections of unsustainable annual deficits in coming years. “What I can’t do is to set the thing up where a whole bunch of things are off the table,” Mr. Obama said. “Some would say we can’t look at entitlements. You had to cast more votes to break filibusters last year than in the entire 1950s and 1960s combined. That’s 20 years of obstruction jammed into just one.” This is astonishing. A filibuster is the successful use of 41 or more votes to prevent the closing of debate. There wasn’t a single filibuster in 2009. Not one. Obama Breaks Promise to End Subsidy Payments to “Passive Farmers: 2/17/2010 The Rural Blog reports, “President Obama has done some things to help rural America, but he has failed to follow through on a central promise of his campaign’s rural agenda, writes Chuck Hassebrook for the Nebraska-based Center for Rural Affairs. In Iowa in October 2007, Obama outlined his rural platform, including “pledging immediate action to close loopholes by limiting payments to active farmers who work the land and their landlords,” Hassebrook writes. “Last month the Obama administration joined its predecessors in failing to act by releasing regulations that continue this gaping loophole,” by allowing otherwise passive investors to count as active farmers if they participate in conference calls about the operation. Geithner, now Obama’s Treasury Secretary, is a former Goldman employee as is his chief of staff, Mark Patterson. Geithner also used to run the New York Federal Reserve Bank. Bloomberg: “When a congressional panel convened a hearing on the government rescue of American International Group Inc. in January, the public scolding of Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner got the most attention. Lawmakers said the former head of the New York Federal Reserve Bank had presided over a backdoor bailout of Wall Street firms and a coverup… Representative Darrell Issa,…placed into the hearing record a five-page document itemizing the mortgage securities on which banks such as Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Societe Generale SA had bought $62.1 billion in credit-default swaps from AIG. Jennifer Fermino reports that Eric Holder wrote to Republican Senator Charles Grassley: “”To the best of our knowledge, during their employment prior to joining the government, only five of the lawyers who serve as political appointees in those components represented detainees,” said Holder in the letter, which is dated Feb. 18. “Four others either contributed to amicus briefs in detainee-related cases or were otherwise involved in advocacy on behalf of detainees.” Holder refused to reveal the names of any of the DOJ lawyers who worked on behalf of terrorists or their positions in the department, except for two officials whose advocacy for Gitmo detainees had already been reported. Neal Katyal, the department’s principal deputy solicitor general, was once the lawyer for Osama bin Laden’s driver. ObamaCare Nightmare Gets Worse After Health Summit! 2/24/2010 The National Legal & Policy Center says you better hold on to your wallet: “The plan is costly and its burden will fall on many Americans, not just “the rich.” Among its more controversial features, the White House proposal retains, in scaled-down form, a key Senate provision: a 40 percent excise tax on high-cost (”Cadillac” or “gold-plated”) health insurance plans originally scheduled to go into effect in 2013… Finding ways to pay for this won’t be easy… One possible revenue source is the Senate excise tax on high-cost insurance policies… Being subject to an excise tax presumably makes consumers more price-conscious and induces doctors to think twice about ordering tests or conducting surgeries of dubious necessity. On paper, this makes sense. In reality, many will pay. Formally, insurers rather than customers make tax payments. But inevitably they would pass the extra cost onto plan enrollees in the form of higher premiums. It’s hard to see how middle-class families would avoid getting slammed, despite Obama’s assurances to the contrary. Indeed, Congress’s Joint Committee on Taxation, in evaluating the Senate bill, concluded that 84 percent of the total tax burden in 2019 would be borne by households making less than $200,000.

He did not do this… No actual legislation was posted online, and none has been shared with the American people or Congress. When the Congressional Budget Office was asked by many members to provide an assessment of the cost of the president’s proposal, CBO responded, “CBO cannot provide a cost estimate for the proposal without additional detail.” As always with policymaking, the devil is in those details.
