Go Figure. The “Moderate Voice” says it is not so sure about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin or her ability to be a national political figure. Writer Jazz Shaw says Palin showed “questionable judgement, a hot temper and suspect intellect.” Odd. I don’t remember reading a single item about Palin having a hot temper. Wasn’t it Obama who had questional judgement in the many controversial friends he picked? Wasn’t it Obama who had the hot temper and kicked reporters he didn’t like off his plane? Shaw writes there is a cult-like fascination with Palin:
“While her aw shucks attitude and platitudes about how, “Gee, isn’t America just swell?” were big sellers with the base, they did little to build an image of someone ready to lead the free world. Likable? No question about it. Ready to face down our nation’s enemies? Not so much. A cult of personality has surely grown around the Alaska governor rivaling the passion felt by Obama’s supporters. But the key difference they should remember was already articulated by the new Commander in Chief. He won. A key point about Palin’s efforts should be that she … well… didn’t.”
A Key point you clearly missed, Mr. Shaw, is that Palin wasn’t at the top of the ticket. Obama was. With Obama vrs. McCain, it was amazing how close it was given that McCain offered no different position than Obama on many key issues. Given how close the race was with a moderate voice as the republican candidate (John MaverDick McCain), we’re convinced Palin would have won and beaten Obama if she were at the top of the ticket. Just a small little key difference you missed. Yes, Obama won. I noticed you didn’t say Biden won. On our side, yes, McCain lost. Palin did not. She gained natonal attention and a bright future filled with loyal followers.

The Alaska News Miner reports Sarah Palin has told supporters she will continue to have a national presence. Says the Miner:
“In a letter to supporters, she promises to continue speaking out and proposing new policies for America. The e-mail letter was sent to supporters who signed up on her new political action committee, SarahPAC, launched last week.”
We’re glad to see she plans to stick around! We’re glad she won’t just give in to the media bashing like former VP Dan Quayle eventually did. Keep fighting Sarah!

Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post is reporting that Sarah Palin has selected Becki Donatelli to run her new SarahPac political action committee. Cillizza’s “The Fix” reports:
“Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has hired Becki Donatelli to handle her brand-spanking new SarahPac, according to sources familiar with the move. Donatelli is the chair of Campaign Solutions, a Republican consulting firm that specializes in fundraising and Internet strategy. Donatelli was intimately involved in both of Sen. John McCain’s (Ariz.) presidential bids and her work with Palin suggests that reports of the two camps’ distaste for one another might be (slightly) overblown. The hiring of Donatelli also is evidence that Palin understands she must overhaul her image among the Republican professional class in Washington if she wants to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate in 2012.”
Interesting how only those inside the beltway think Palin needs to “overhaul her image.” There isn’t any “republican professional class” in Washington! There aren’t any republicans in Washington, for pete’s sake!

Some legislators in Alaska are apparently wondering what happened to the way things used to be before Sarah Palin became a national politician. News Miner is reporting:
“They’re used to spotting the effervescent Palin striding past, deftly working her two Blackberries, stopping to chat in the hallway or inviting reporters in while she prepares for a speech. Palin insists her focus is still on Alaska. “I swore to steadfastly and doggedly guard the interests of this great state like a grizzly with cubs,” she said in her State of the State address two days after the start of session. “We’ve got to fight for each other, not against, and not let external sensationalized distractions draw us off course.”
State senator Bert Stedman says Palin is “not so sparky.” State Representative David Guttenberg told News Miner, “There were days when she walked around the building with (her daughter) Piper handing out bagels. I think those days are gone.”
State senator Gene Therriault defends Palin to those who are asking where she is. “So far, I’ve seen the governor deliver her energy package, she delivered her budget on time and she met with the majority caucus. I’ve not seen or heard anyone come up with anything the executive is supposed to be doing that she has not done. It appears to me she’s back on the job full-time.”
Palin remains so popular ther her press staff still receives hundreds and hundreds of interview requests.
