Female Soldier Death

CORRECTION: This article was incorrect in stating that Jessican Sarandrea was the first military woman to die under the new Obama Administration.  That woman was Simone A. Robinson.  We thank “Martylafl” (see comments below) for pointing this out and allowing us to correct our mistake.  We regret any confusion this may have caused and we pay tribute to all of our soldiers, men and women, fighting today and those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.  God Bless all of you!

The defense department says Pfc. Jessica Y. Sarandrea, 22, of Miami, Florida died on March 3rd “of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked her forward operating base with mortar fire. She was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.”  Sarandrea was fighting as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  We offer our prayers and condolences to her family and friends.  And, we offer our thanks to Jessica, for her bravery in defending this great nation.   Her death is the first death of a female soldier under the new Obama Administration.

    You are incorrect.

Army Spc. Simone A. Robinson died March 1 at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near her security post on Jan. 17 in Kabul, Afghanistan. This is not to detract anything from the loss of Pfc Sarandrea.

    Check and correct.

    Respectfully, another female soldier.
