Conservative American News & Views.
Love him or hate him, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina scored one for the republicans this week. Let me explain. If GOP leaders had been sitting around trying to find a way to make sure people weren’t talking about President Obama the day after his speech to congress, they could not have come up with a plan this effective. I didn’t say good. I said effective.
It worked though. The talk was not about Obama toward the middle and end of the week. In fact, it started within minutes of the speech. The news and the interesting water cooler discussions were about Joe Wilson. People on both sides of the aisle were saying he behaved badly. It is far more interesting than discussing the Obama speech which rehashed at least 13 old lies and created some new ones.
There have been a few on the right who defend his words because they are the truth.
President Obama was lying about his plan not covering illegal aliens (see Scandal #477). First, he doesn’t even have “a plan.” He has not written or proposed a bill. The components he mentioned in his talk are not contained in any one bill that is even being considered. Therefore, the entire speech was pointless and not based in reality. In addition, unless the President comes up with some vast and expensive plan to ensure all hospitals, doctors and clinics check ID’s prior to offering service, illegal aliens will indeed be covered by the Obamacare Nightmare.
It was rude for Wilson to heckle the President of the United States. I won’t say it was wrong though. These are tough and challenging times. We have a socialist President for the first time in our nation’s history. He did not run as a socialist. Instead, he convinced many he was a centrist just to win the election. Now that he has won, he is trying to destroy basic freedoms and liberties. For those reasons, I won’t say Joe Wilson was wrong.
Besides, he sidetracked the nation. Obama was hoping to get everyone to focus on passing healthcare. Instead, people either flipped the channel, or decided to talk about Wilson instead. The nation has moved on. Americans don’t want Obamacare. Will the democrats move on? Or will they force it down our throats?
